Nice win for P-VILLE.

Great win for Pikeville but, I don't think anything could have them prepared for Belfry next week! Gonna be a tough one for the Panthers!

Congrats Panthers!

This game was not as close as the score indicates. I am usually the last one to be overly optimistic, but Pikeville dominated this game. The defense minus a couple plays of bad tackling was excellent! Really proud of this group. The offense was just as good. Only completing one pass all night, but moving the ball well. Just a very well coached game and the Panthers were prepared.

First 4-0 start for Pikeville since 2000!! It has been a while, but it feels really good. No matter the end result of this season, progress has definitely been made. 8-2 or 9-1 is very realistic. This would be great for a group that WANTS to be out there. For a group that didn't shy away from the field when some thought it would be a bad year. To those who stayed and improved instead of taking the easy route and talking trash about the team they once played for, THANK YOU!

Keep battling, next week is going to be tough. But, just stay positive and learn what we can from it. There are more games to come. Get out and support these guys. HAIL PIKEVILLE!!

Talk to us SC fans... what is hurting this team this year?

I know turnovers were an issue coming in, did that continue? Are the Cards just a bit too green on the line right now?

SC has way too much talent to be sitting winless right now.

Frankly, based on what I saw tonight, their main issues are:

1) Lack of a passing offense (seriously in need of work)

2) Green line play (if it weren't for the RB speed, would have been many negative yardage plays)

3) Find SOMEONE, ANYONE, who can kick the ball half a lick and punt once in a while on 4th down. They did not punt ONCE all night, went for it on every single 4th down. I can't believe they have no one on their roster who can't punt, even just a little bit. 10-15 yard punt would be better than nothing.

4) They have a fairly solid D, Pikeville only completed one pass all night (I think), but are poor on tackling technique, and lead with their helmets too much. By that, I don't mean play dirty, they just don't keep their heads up to see what they're trying to tackle.

5) Overrated talent on the line. I hate saying that about high school kids. Some decent size, but nothing that justifies some of the trash talk on the prediction thread leading up to this.

That's just my opinions. Pikeville really dominated this game from start to finish. And yes, I believe 3 turnovers, by the way, for them.

You would think on the backs of the two talented running backs alone that Sheldon Clark could have got in the W column tonight.

Pikeville continues to impress and just win ballgames. The Harlan victory was a good win, and despite the results thus far, I don't believe for a second that Sheldon Clark is a BAD team.

They have the talent on this team, But I mean they did graduate 17 players off last years team. I expected some losses this year but never the 0-4 start. The line has 4 new guys on it this year so yes you could say they are green. They have the speed and started a new QB tonight, but it doesn't get any easier next week with Perry County coming down. It's to the point now where its looking like it will be a long season for the cards.

No offense, but 2 players don't beat 11 playing as a team, no matter how talented they are. Good backs, got nice chunks of yardage, but...

SC just turned the ball over on downs, they lost one fumble but it was 4th down and the gain was not going to be enough for the first down. They did fail to convert on 4th down at least 4-5 times, maybe more. The Pikeville defense did a great job.

But as to why SC is struggling, they are too predictable. I could have told you what they were going to run on most plays. Too one dimensional. Smith and Skyles are good individaul talents, but they have to start putting something together as a team. They did not hang their heads though, they played hard the whole game.

ive been setting back watching this team and not saying a word but after tonight ive got to blow up.. kp is a good player not great but great.. Tim Smith is fast but has no brains at all.. sometimes i wonder if they have to tell him what direction to run.. Those are there best two players imo.. Tyler O is a good player also and plays really hard but you can tell he that he dont care as much as he should. There o line is awful.. its not that they dont have a punter but i dont think they have a center that can snap the ball back far enough.. Stevens kid is huge but has no muscle what so ever.. i wouldnt trust him blocking against a P Weee team... People can get mad about this post all they want but its just speaking the truth. Now on a different subject this is what hager gets.. ive always been a hager fan but his turning into a typical martin county coach.. heard that he called kp and his dad crying a few weeks back when he heard kp was leaving.. if thats true then he has lost all my respect.. if they dont get a win soon he will start to lose his players left and right cause i know some of them are on the verge of quiting right now..

It isn't going to get any easier with Perry Central, Belfry, and Lawrence County the next 3. Then you have East Ridge, Pike Central, and Hazard. It is looking like 1-9. And Sheldon Clark is not terrible, but their schedule is LOADED. It is just a really tough thing to deal with. They are not as bad as the final record may indicate. They have the talent to upset some teams, and I hope they do.

Agreed, PT. And thanks for correcting me on the turnovers. I could have sworn they had 3 total. Maybe I was counting the pass Pikeville almost picked off in the 3rd qtr.

Monster Energy, PT is right. There is some talent there, SC just needs to find a way to gel as a team. Here's hoping for a good finish to the season, and injury free.

oh yeah theres talent there but the key word is some.. and some is not enough..

Just not enough redshirt fifth-year seniors, huh? Maybe the KHSAA can help you out some more in the future!!!

VERY proud of my Panthers tonight. SC is a talented team. One that I was afraid would wait till tonight to put it together and roll over us. But this Pikeville football team doesnt quit! They play with heart! They dont hang their heads and pout over something not going there way. Coach Mac and his staff are doing a wonderful job with these boys. Pikeville controlled the football game from start to finish and pretty much imposed their will on SC all night long. I havent seen Pikeville do that to a team outside their district in a LONG time. GO PANTHERS!!!

Sc has talent but their line isn't up to par this season. Hager has faced adversity before tho he started his career at 2-8 so he knows how to face the challenge at hand. SC has not played a district game tho and im a firm believer in anything can happen at ne time. SC can pull together but they just have to believe in each other i hope they do because this program is one of the best in the state and has an extremely good middle school program coming up. I just want us to keep interest in the program and keep the youngsters interested
