Who will win the 15th Region?

Belfry fans are definitely "passionate!" I think they're still living in the glory days! I haven't seen them play this year, but judging by what I've seen on KHSAA they aren't what they used to be.

Make no mistake, they are still a powerhouse team with some very good quality players. I don't think they quite have the mental toughness some of the past teams did, and that's not a knock on the players, it is just an observation.

But their fan base was WAY overboard Tuesday night. As a volleyball fan, I was embarrassed, and not just because we beat them. Several very close calls in a fast paced game and they just BLASTED the line judge. It demonstrated a total lack of class, especially when one fan was waiting by the door for the line judge to leave. Some of the comments were ugly, and I know for a fact some of the players felt intimidated as they walked to their bus.

This is not the Belfry from years past, and I have witnessed the fan behavior before, nothing surprises me as far as that goes.

Just ridiculous behavior. I have seen them get verbal before but to actually try to physically intimidate players is just a total lack of class. I heard 2years ago refs had to be escorted out from the gym for the same reason by deputy sheriffs but first time I have seen it myself at a freaking volleyball game. Someone needs to call their principal and tell him to get his arms around the problem before it escalates.

Can't believe how close Johnson Central played East Ridge last night (25-21, 21-25, 26-24). Judging by East Ridge's schedule they're not really challenging themselves so I guess close games like that will happen.

Piarist also played Prestonsburg really close last night(25-22, 25-20). That's great for the very young Piarist team even though they didn't come out with the win!!

Pikeville defeated LCC yesterday in 3 sets. Betsy Layne lost to LCC in 3 sets later. Good day of volleyball at Betsy Layne. Rowan County defeated Pikeville. Lost to LCC and Betsy Layne.
Pikeville has improved.

Heard about the Pikeville win over Letcher Central from a friend who has a daughter that plays for Pikeville... very impressive!
