Drag Racing in Johnson County!
#1
I saw a bunch of people this Sunday, DRAG RACING at the old Combs Airport in Johnson County!

Is this going to be a regular event or just a one time thing? Could someone please fill the rest of us in on what is going on!

I hope it is a regular event. I would love to start attending!

That was just a practice session and they only invited a few drivers to bring down their street legal cars and about 100 people ended up watching about 3 or 4 hours of racing.

The city of Prestonsburg are the ones handling everything. The first event is September 3rd, but if you want to race in it you HAVE to go to downtown Prestonsburg and go through the specs and then they'll be a police escort all the way to the airport for the racing.

It's all supposed to be for fun, but with some of the guys from the area that have actual 7, 8, 9 second cars they'll be some big $$$ on the line.

Sadly, no.

1/8.

There are no walls or anything to keep a car that lost control out of harms way.

I was going to say, when you start talking 7,8 or 9 seconds for a 1/4, that's pretty stout.

^That's REAL stout...lol.

I mean there are guys that have cars that will run that in 1/4 mile.

However it's way to dangerous to run those cars 1/8 mile at Combs Airport.

Willard Kinzer actually has the fastest street legal car in the country. He bought it off of David Wolfe and Willard set the new record for fastest pass in a street legal car at Bowling Green not a few weeks ago.

Here's some video of that car:
