RunItUpTheGut's Preseason Rankings
#1
I thought id have a little fun with this one.
Ive honestly spent time looking, researching, and communicating with different people on how this should look.
Please dont take these rankings the wrong way, while these are my personal opinions, i have consulted with many different people about these ranking, and it might be a good start for those who would like to maybe start a top 10 ranking of every class on BGR without any bias and real opinions and real votes, not just what one or two thinks everything should be.
Feel free to express opinions, criticism and run with it. Im all ears.
I did something similar to this last year and wasnt very far off on my predictions.
Also, if we do come up with some kind of committee for voting in rankings, a couple of things come to my mind.
Not everybody has to vote for every class. Take the Pcc/Harlan fans. Im sure they know much more about whats going on in 5A and can really have good insight into it. Same goes for the Bell/Knox/Boyle/Highlands fans in 4A.
I think there should be a different committee for each class of maybe 5-10 a class representing the votes.
I also think that only members with over a year and 1000 post experience should do this. Its no direspect to younger members, however if you let everyone doing it your liable to have a really bad team get 100 members to sign up just to vote for there team and never log on again.
Im a true moutain football fan, but more of a KHSAA fan, meaning ive tried my hardest to not be biased in any way whatsoever. I know its to late for us to get a true preseason pole with analysis on here, but it might be a good start for us to figure out something with next year. Feel free to talk about what should be changed and why.
Enjoy....

Thank you sir. We still gonna hit the usual spot this season?
You know it wouldnt be the same without us taunting opposing teams players as they walk onto the field lol.

Looks like 3A could get very interesting.

Don't take this the wrong way, but who is Lone Oak (4A)? Where are they from? I've never heard of them. Are they normally a pretty strong team? Thanks a lot.

They have been to two state finals in recent years.

The last was the 4A final just 2 years ago. Blew a big lead and lost in 2 Overtimes to Boyle.

They are usually a very good team out of the west and are returning an excellent offense.

Lone Oak made it to the finals in 2007 and got beat by lexington cath

Thanks for taking the time to do this! The only thing I will say which is basically the same thing I said in the other ranking thread is that I feel like people aren't taking into account that Danville will be without Brand, their best player, this season.

It's in Paducah. They used to be mediocre (to the best of my knowledge) but they've really exploded onto the KY high school football scene ever since the class expansion. The national record holder for TD passes in a season was from there, he had something like 91 TD passes I think in 2007. For the life of me I can't think of his name but they have been a real competitor on the state level over the past five years.

You done a much better job them BGP's.

Lone Oak is a bedroom community of a few hundred people of just south of Paducah. It dissolved its incorporation recently. It has one of three high schools in the soon to be merged McCracken County system. The others are Reidland and Heath. Lone Oak has developed four outstanding quarterbacks under coach Jack Haskins (father of Billy Jack Haskins.)

All Stater Jamarielle Brown, now WR @ WKU.
Corey Robinson @ Troy State (Ky. Mr. Football and national record holder.)
Cameron Looper who signed with LW but now is at Campbellsville.
And current super soph Cole Ousley - a freshman All-American nod last year.

Dont worry, i dont know that much about western teams but the teams loan oak has put on the field for the last few years have been great. They actually probably should have beaten boyle in the finals. This is why i had to have a little help.

Raceland is another team i had not heard much on, but after talking with a couple of guys we decided to put them because we honestly didnt think that the teams below them could beat them.
Hard thing is when you have a team like raceland and then 2 or 3 mountain teams, they wont play each other or any common opponents till atleast playoff time, so its a hard thing to judge, thanks for the input.

Much more expert than BGP. Thanks.

Jarons Wrote:The only thing I would change is Male and St. X.

I really wanted to lol but i thought id let Male have it. I get sick of seeing Trinity-StX 1 and 2 every year especially on a year when St X is not "suppose " to be as good as years past and Male is. You cant not put trinity number 1 though, its impossible, they are by far the best team in the state so i definitely wasnt goin to short them on that.

We will find out when Raceland and Pikeville plays in September.
Raceland is a very young but talented team. All of their players are mostly underclassmen. From what I have been told, they are a year away from having a really nice run.

One thing i tried to do when ranking these teams is look at what teams i was putting into the top ten played other teams from the top 10 in the same class and i came across the raceland/pikeville game which will be the third game of the year for both teams. Like you said i guess ill see how accurste my ranking truly are when these games start happening.
If i get good feedback from this and people tend to like and agree with these rankings for the most part i might do a weekly ranking of each class with a little bit of analysis with help from some other members.

In 1A I think Louisville Holy Cross will be a top 3 or 4 team based on who they return. Being a Mayfield die hard I watch the 1A west bracket closely. Murray in 2A lost everyone including the towel boy. For them to be in the top 10 early would be really suprising.

Great job, thanks for putting in the effort
