Thanks, I knew it was close and someone had 6, lol.

I am looking forward to the upcoming game August 20. I plan to be there!
2000.
Took this from, the "other" site:
Teams and Score: Rockcastle County 7 Sheldon Clark 6
Year: 2000
RS or PO: 3A Playoffs Regional Championship
Location: Sheldon Clark High School
Details why this game should be the "Game of the Week":
Rock was 12-0 coming into the game and Sheldon Clark was 11-1, only losing to Beechwood earlier that year. Rock beat SC 31-14 the year before in the 2nd round and SC had a senior dominated team coming back in 2000 that was supposed to take on Highlands in the Semi's that year. The game was obvisiously a defensive battle and the scoring came near the end of the game. SC was down 7-0 and a long run set up their TD. They elected to go for two with 1 minute to go in the game for the win, the Rock's defense was ranked in the top 3 of the state that year as well as SC and the 2 points conversion attempt was intercepted in the endzone by Marty Reagan, to seal their fate 7-6. The game was recorded as being -8 windchill that night, coldest game I've ever been to.

I covered that game in 2000 and it was one of the best high school games I have seen and god was it cold but that was years ago so the August 20 game should be a good one and its simply too early to try and predict a score.:devilflam

I honestly believe it's to early to be making predictions. Both teams haven't even put pads on. So I believe it's to early to call at this point. But saying that, it sounds like Rock will be tough this year. Sc, with the loss of many good seniors, will be better than what people are saying with the return of many great players. Idk, we'll just have to wait till August 20th I guess.

Seems there are some new kids to SC roster, 1 from PCC and 2 from Shelby Valley and I hear one of them was a SR last year, and he somehow is getting a 5th year of highschool football.. This has not been confirmed, any news on this?

I don't believe there is anyone from Pike County Central, but there is one from Lawrence County, I think. And there are two from Shelby Valley, one being listed as a senior last season.
In regard to this young man, there is a number of factors, I understand, as to whether he is going to be eligible. I have heard that the KHSAA will render a decision very soon. I have heard "unconfirmed" opinions both ways, so we shall see in the next few days.

Correction, Lawrence County is incorrect; it was Johnson Central. His father came to Sheldon Clark as the girls basketball coach.

Let us hope that it cools down some by August 20.
I've noticed that some teams have adjusted their practice times due to the severe heat we're experiencing.

Sheldon Clark has been working hard, have about 38 to 40 guys out, and are going to put on the pads Monday. As far as how they are going to do, I think it's a BIG? at this point. For they lost 16 or 17 to graduation last year.
From what I hear, they have chosen not to go to camp, and haven't gone for years. So this year is no different, for they will prepare at home.
Hope to see you on August 20 at Harrison County!

I watched SC workout Friday evening and they looked pretty good. Obviously this was without pads. And, yes they do have some speed; however, one, I do not think, can one truly tell a whole lot when there is no contact. I would tend to think we'll know much more in the next three weeks.
I look forward to a good game on August 20, although from what I've heard, most do not give SC much of a chance of coming out with a W.
Good luck to both teams in regard to having an injury free contest.

I have the sneaking feeling that Sheldon Clark is going to play some serious football this season. Even though many think Rockcastle is the overwhelming favorite, I believe it will be a close game. We shall see come August 20.

I saw on the Sheldon Clark website they are getting a few stud transfers from Pike Central...but don't worry about Pike Central....they are getting replacements from Texas and "Flordia".....lol. All jokes aside, Rockcastle absolutely won't be overlooking anyone this season.

Good quote papagrit. I know SC will come to play, they will be the underdog against Rockcastle and really have nothing to loose and the pressure would have to fall on Rockcastle, considering their tradition and last years results. I think it will be a good game and hope an injury free game for both sides. I am glad both schools start out with tough hard games .

I not sure how these rankings were determined, I, for one, do not pay any attention to pre-season rankings. We will know what happens when it happens. If predictions were always correct, what would be the purpose of playing the game?
I hope to see a good, hard-fought, injury free game for both teams. May the better team win.
I am a Sheldon Clark fan, and hope that they bring their A game to Rockcastle. And if they do, it should be a good game.
