Pike Central 2011
The HAWKATTACK Wrote:From what I have heard at work, Tim Smith will 100 % be eligable. He's just a normal student at Pike Central.

If he indeed is, It's a safe assumption he will go where his old coach from SV goes. If this is the case and he is, he will be a student at Sheldon clark.
So the obvious is........maybe neither were never wanted at PC. Is this the variable that you were looking for to complete the equation.
A cleaver cover up. When Chapman realized no magic he could pull out of his hat would work, he gave them the boot.
All I know that a waiver has been applied for Smith with the KHSAA and they are waiting and seeing. If he does get eligible having him and Skyles in the SC backfield would certainly make a good 1 - 2 punch
Jed Clampett Wrote:Rumors can stop now Norman has been hired to teach and be the defensive coordinatorat Sheldon Clark. That is a fact.

So Im guessing the Martin Co. School System hired his wife to teach? I believe that was one of his main factors when deciding on a coaching position.
Chapman didn't have a trick in play for this one. I think that it was Norman that had one up his sleeve. Thinking an ace in the hole.
Pike Central will begin summer practice tomorrow morning.

Season can't get here soon enough.

No sir that's not what happened, but as you all have said in the past "We keep secrets on the hill."With that I'm not saying what really happened. This way your minds can wonder about the truth.

Exactly what can a team do during "summer practice?" Are the coaches allowed to be present? Just wondering.

It is just as usual practice coaches are present etc. the only def. is that you have to progress to pads. Start out with just shorts and t's, then you are allowed a certain number of shoulder pad/shorts practices and then certain ammount of full pad/full contact practices.
I think that a team is not allowed contact the first 5 days of practice to get acclamated to the heat. Most will probably start out in shorts and helmet first day and then to helmets and shoulder pads. Then they will begin the second week in full pads and going live in drills. If i'm not mistaken,we will be getting one less week to prepare this year as opposed to last. At Harlan we probably won't go live till around the 25th with the gridorama on 8/12 against Bell Co.. So, not alot of time to prepare for season. I think many teams are having 7 on 7 tournaments this week.

Thanks! Somehow I thought, or thought I'd heard, that practice didn't start until July 15. But given the fact that many teams play their first game August 29, it makes sense to get started now.

Correct, if im not mistaking that rule was put into affect after man heat strokes and deaths between the 80s and 90s someone correct me if im wrong on that.
I'm pretty sure you are right about that Slamma. Not sure whether it was in effect or not when that kid died up in Lexington a couple of years ago. It may have came into affect after that incident.

I know it has been in effect at least since the time I started High School in 2002.
The biggest rule is you have to go 10 days in just helmet before you can go full pads.
Right on
I have just found out that Pike Central has picked up a new Defensive Coordinator from Middlesboro.
When you add shoulder pads depends on when you start school. There is a chart on the KHSAA website. If your first day of school is on August 11 or later you can't add pads until August 1st. That means it is helmet ONLY for the next two weeks! :HitWall:

That is right Coach Mike should be a great help to the team.:1:
Coach Mike seems to know the game of football
Teams can not go full pads until 7 days before there first day of school.
The Hawks look real good in the first week on the field. I cant wait for it to get here.
KHSAA Scoreboard only has 9 games listed for Pike Central. Who is the 10th game with? Also, what scrimmages does Pike Central have and what are the dates and times?

They only have 9 games scheduled now. Not sure if they will play 10 games again this year.
That's what happen when you cancel out on someone.
Pike Central did not cancel on anyone. The team they were scheduled to play consolidated with another school and they are playing that school's schedule. Pike Central has been unable to find anyone else to play them.
Thanks.

Any scrimmages scheduled?
How does the loss of Mike Smith (recently hired as head coach of Tolsia High School) affect the team???

Lol why would a school that knows they are going to be consolidating sign a contract to play a game? That doesn't make any sense.
