What makes Rhodes a good hire?

OrangenowBlue Wrote:Are you saying players in the NBA are intellectually superior to players that only play in college. Im sorry but coaching in the NBA primarily involves babysitting and butt kissing. If playing in the NBA makes you a superior coach, then why are they more former NBA stars coaching college ball. Actually, average college players make the best coaches. Look at Mike K, Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Roy Williams and the list goes on.

Naw, I was just saying to play in the NBA you have to know something about the game, because everyone in the league has talent...

Not saying just because you play in the NBA you will be a good coach....

Don't get mad when the transfers are dunking on people..
This is good stuff, I can't wait to see it!

I think you have jealousy confused with realism and common sense.

^ Yeah, I don't see much happening at Cordia. BUT if it does that would be great...

No, I do not jump on bandwagons with blinders on. Sounds like you're the one who gets butt-hurt(whatever the hell that means) whenever someone states an opinion you do not agree with.

I'm of Cordia Alum - you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. :|

Naw Reeallly. I thought you was a JBS fan. I am referring to jumping on the Roderick Rhodes bandwagon.

^I think your just on the "hate everyone that is 10 miles away from PCC or is PCC bandwagon"
Did you play ball anywhere?
Do you coach?
Do you play ball now?
What makes you qualified?
If you're that qualified I'll give ole' Alice Whitaker a call myself and tell her she needs to hire you instead of Rhodes - that IMO shes making a great mistake!

No thanks. My life hasn't got bad enough or deteriorated to the point that I need to get a job at Cordia. If it does, you will be the first person I contact. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

My point was, doesn't matter if you wanted the job at Riverside - IMO - which of neither are ever gonna happen.

Ouch man that was a little harsh. I personally dont care bout this hire. It doesnt really excite me, because as it has been stated before just because you can play doesnt mean you can coach. I just dont agree to disrespect the teachers, coaches, and everyone else at CHS. That was wrong, you might want to tell your boy Oz to make a hire like this because Hammonds sure isnt getting the job done at your goddess school.

My opinion on this hire. It'll be a sucessful hire if he brings some people in, maybe some of the kids in a different area with the connections he has. If not, I dont think it'll get much better than what Denny could do.

I am proud to say that I am a graduate of Cordia. I'd much rather go there than any other high school in this area. There is nothing wrong with that school, great faculty & staff, great people associated with the school, there are just a few bad apples that give the school a bad name. Every school has bad apples, it's just where Cordia is a small school they are recognized more.

Any teacher or principal or coach should consider it an honor to be associated with Cordia High School. Never diss my school dude, I don't say anything about yours.

So the first and foremost job requirement for hiring a coach in Eastern Kentucky should be on how many players they can recruit and how fast they can get them here instead of established coaching ability and building a program from local or at least regional talent that will establish a tradition that will continue on. You may end up with a Rose Hill or a June Buchanan.

:dontthinkDon't bring poor ole Riverside into this. You do not need to drag them into the mud and ruining their good name by associating them with me.

:Thumbs:If I see Ozz I will let him know. I am sure he will greatly value your opinion.

I apologize for my kneejerk reaction concerning Cordia. It was a reaction to statements made by Bawlers. You should be proud of your school and there are some good people there. However it is true that I would not want to teach or coach there. Nothing to do with the people. Just the size and location. I have not referred to any "bad apples'. That sounds like a personal issue that you may have. The primary questions or concerns that I have thrown out there is whether Rhodes was a good hire and what his intentions were. It remains to be seen. I have stated in other threads and previous posts that I would have concerns of the reasoning for him coming to Eastern Kentucky to any school, even if it was Letcher Central, Perry Central, Hazard, or Knott Central. It makes no sense why someone from Jersey City that played at St. Anthony's(played for the legendary Bob Hurley), has been an assistant at several colleges, would come this far away from the environment he is used to and bring kids, most likely from urban areas(if this is even true), who may not have seen more then a couple of trees in their life, and live in Eastern Kentucky. This would be the equivalent of taking someone from Cordia or Letcher County and dropping them off in the Bronx to go to school. If the primary goal and reason for hiring him is to bring in players from across the nation and bask in the glow of the temporary publicity, then that is fine but it will not help Cordia over the long haul.

I'll have to think on it.
There's pretty much nothing going on besides baseball so I don't know if I could make a good one or not lol

Sorry to be uninformed, but I've seen several references to dorms in this thread. Is Cordia a boarding school?
#53
Sounds as if they are a lot of people spectulating the hire, do you really know what they had to chose from or do you really even care. At least for some of you who probably don't know what is going on, you have had something to talk about. And Yes Cordia was once a boarding school.

From what I can tell from talking to him is that he is enjoying Lotts Creek and the community very well. They've welcomed him and have made him feel like home.
#55
What is his job going to be other than coaching.
