Chris Gaither named new Collins boys' basketball coach
#1
Chris Gaither has been hired as Collins' second boys' basketball coach.

Gaither, 27, previously assisted Mike Clark at Shelby County for two seasons before working under Curtis Turley this past season for the Titans' inaugural campaign.

"Mr. Gaither has been an assistant in our program for three years under very successful mentors," Collins Principal Anthony Hatchell said Thursday.

Congrats Chris, you have earned this shot, so make everyone proud. Nice hire from the Happy Osborne coaching tree, he will make the new High School a fine coach.

I will still stand by my initial comment, Collins screwed up when they did not hire Jason Booher from Shelby Valley when he wanted to come here initially and start fresh at a new school...

So, what is he going to have to work with??? Kidwell kid is leaving Collins and going to Trinity, Hicks kid left and went to Trinity and Miles Rice who was at Shelby West is at Trinity, so who is in the system that will help Collins become a power house in Basketball?

Well as long as the private schools in Louisville don't steal anymore players, the Titans should have a good season. They return all but two players from last year's 18-12 team. They will probably be the most athletic team in the region and will have good height with 6'7" Brian Stone, 6'6" Larz Hall, and 6'4" Dez Marshall. If they are able to take care of the ball and score they should do pretty well this year. Turnovers and missed shots killed them last year, especially in the postseason.

I think that Coach Gaither will do a good job at Collins and I wish him the best.

I'm not sure, but I heard that Shelby West had a really good 7th grade team this year with tons and tons of speed. He should have plenty of athletes to work with.

I watched the Titans play last week against Oldham and S. Oldham. I believe the Titans beat Oldham by 10 and S. Oldham by 9. I also heard they beat Desales by 20, St. X by 12.
They will be the most athletic team in the region. With the Kidwell kid moving to Trinity Ralphie Stone will now have the opportunity to play the 1. With Stone running the point the Titans seemed to be very big and atheltic.
1- R Stone- 6'2"
2- Johnson- 5'11"-Great Shooter
3- Marshall- 6'4"--Shooter, slasher
4- ????
5- B. Stone-6'7"
Subs: Larz Hall-6'6"-Did not play due to injury, Brooks-6-2-thick, Dugle-6-2-nice shooter.
