Cordia Coaching Search
#1
Who would be the candidates for the position? I've heard some rumors but they're not for sure.
#2
Mitch Smith makes his debut?

What are some of the names your hearing, Wall2Wall.

The Mullins boy from Knott I'm sure will apply and have heard Scott McAlarnis was interested, but don't know if he will leave Perry County or not, he would make a great high school coach, he does a great job at the gradeschool level.

I've heard Bentley would be interested in the job cuz it would be closer to home. But this is just a rumor.
#5
^ I hope Coach Bentley isn't leaving. From what I hear he's working with the players and scheduling games. I haven't seen it but have heard it's pretty hard, hardest it's been in awhile with possible couple Lexington Schools on there. Jackson City, LCC, KCC are on it and I believe we may be playing at Rockcastle on Dec. 12th in a Boy/Girl Double Header.
#6
I thought Bentley would been interested in the Breathitt Job. It would been closer to Hazard than Irvine. I dont see Bentley taking the Cordia job simply because Bentley is trying to build a better resume for a better job, at Estill he is aleast competeing for a district title. He takes the Cordia job, he'll be looking at Knott and Letcher every year with better talent.

Maybe "Duke" Combs takes back over.
#7
I heard Honeycutt was coming back.
#8
^

Probably would be the best move by Cordia. JMO.
#9
what about Doug Noble? wouldn't he be a good candidate?
#10
^
Just dont see that happening.
#11
If I was hiring, these would be the guys that I would try and go after to be the next Head Boys Basketball Coach.

John Bentley and Jeff Honeycutt. Maybe even hire an assistant from one of these bigger schools like Perry, Knott, Hazard, or Letcher. Does anyone else think that that would be a good idea? If so, who?
#12
^ That would be a good idea but if Bentley wanted to be closer to Hazard he would have went to Breathitt but chose to stay here. Honeycutt would be the best choice for Cordia IMO

What about an assistant from another school, any good candidates?

Several Teams in the 14th Region has some good Assistants
#15
Steve Banks-LCC....Clifford Mcintyre-Perry Central.....Mitch Smith-Cordia. (Not much experience but he would be a good fit for Cordia.)....I'm sure Eric Mullins from Knott, will apply for it.
#16
Justin Amburgey is the leading canidate for the Cordia job!
#17
Some Good options out there...

I know everyone praises Clifford a s a coach but I am not that big on him. There is another assistant on that staff that would make a 10 times better head coach than Clifford, and I'm sure you all know who I am talking about.

Mitch Smith knows basketball but is just getting into coaching, I'd rather have Clifford, lol.

Coach Hoskins will be a great coach someday, hope he gets the opportunity soon. He works his butt off for the kids, that is what it's all about.TongueirateSho

You have got to be kidding right? :HitWall:
I'm sure he wouldn't want to leave his pie job he was given last year.:moon:

Bentley going to Cordia, IMO, is crazy talk..
Not enough chocolate milk's in the building at Cordia to satisfy John Bentley..

Go and play either one on one and tell me how you do...

I'd say Cordia will have to take their chances on an up-and-coming coach with this one.
I don't see any head coaches moving for this one.

What does this mean? For those of us who dont know Coach Bentley..Not an appropriate comment

I talked to the AD over at Knott County today and he said "KENT CAMPBELL" would be the next Head Coach at Cordia. Kent will do a tremendous job.
#28
^ Who is Kent Campbell?
#29
I know for a fact that the AD does not hire any coaches in Knott County. The AD may advise someone for the position, but they do not hire anyone.
#30
Kent would be a great hire. He was an assistant at PCC for several years and a year of two at Buckhorn.
