:HitWall: Why is it taking so long to hire someone?
02-14-2011, 10:13 AM
If they are going to hire from outside then 30 days must pass. If they are going to hire from within then they could have done that anytime.
Has anyone heard the lastest?

If they were going to hire Russell then it should have already been done.

The end is near.

any clear guesses on who are the leaders or who is doing the hiring? If Russell dont get it does he go to Bell
02-15-2011, 02:41 PM
Anything can happen... but if Russell don't get it will be bad. He earned it and is a loyal member of the Knox football family.
But in this county, there could be somebody's cousin who needs a job and that may alter the whole project, who knows.

Have they started interviewing? I have heard Michael Copley's name mentioned a few times

Heard from a prominant person yesterday, the admin will be calling coaches near the end of the week to schedule interviews for next week. So Possibly 3 weeks form now you will have a coach..

Hearing the names of Jay Cobb, Mike Whitaker, Scotty Russell. What do you think?
02-16-2011, 03:52 PM
Final 3 are most likely Russell and two others. Marty Jaggers (spelling? Mercer county previously?) and an Alabama high school head coach named Danny Adams. Anybody know either?
Still pulling strongly for Russell.

Everyone I know in the KC program has nothing but great things to say about Scotty Russell, so I'm really surprised that this one was even opened up for applications and interviews.
If someone other than Russell ends up getting the job, they better have some really good PR skills.

But legally, a process must take place that meets state requirements. Add to that that this is a much sought after position with a bunch of interest from many people. While i agree Scotty Russell is the clear front runner - he needs to earn the offer by going through the process alongside every other applicant and proving he has the organizational, communication, and leadership skills to do this.

Handing him the the keys to the kingdom without him having fought for and won the position would not be fair to the process nor would it serve to reinforce to him what a great responsibility and honor would be his if indeed the offer is made for him to lead this program. Again - I firmly feel he is the right leader for this - but he has to earn it.

There interviewing top 5 thurs. Should make make annoucement by fri.

"Keys to the Kingdom" ?
Please don't tell me that you are making a reference to Knox being the kingdom. Mills had fair success there and yes Knox has improved but a kingdom they are not nor ever will be.
Camelot = Barville ? yeah, bartender I'll have what he's drinkin !
They will hire Russell and he will continue the progress that has taken place but please don't act like this job is more than it really is. There are at least fifteen jobs in the mountains that are better than Knox.

I think he was just making a point. But I do disagree. There are not 15 jobs better than this job. I could possibly be a top 5 job in the mountains with what they have there... facilities, youth programs and support. The new alignment may turn some away as it did Mills, but others look at it as a challenge. This is a very good job!

Before you go ragging on a town or team you should at least learn how to spell it....Barbourville
02-16-2011, 10:59 PM
I would take Belfry, Corbin, Bell County, LCC, Johnson Central and Harlan County over KC as far as top jobs in the mountains but No doubt this is still a very good school to coach at. If Russell gets it they should still be successful I just don't see them being a state power.

Has anyone heard John Chapman's name mentioned for this job????

PBR Wrote:"Keys to the Kingdom" ?I would love to see you talk this out one on one. It is easy to make fun of people and try to degrade someone at the drop of a hat on this site. I am positive if you were not hiding behind your computer your words would be very different. You would probably not even open your mouth! You are just a punk trying to show his rear end. Football1 is a very good man that loves the game of football. He also loves the young men that are on the team as well as having total respect for the other teams players and coaches. If you want to try to make fun of someone just go set down in front of the mirrior and I am sure you will be amused. What Kingdom do you live in? As far as Mills goes he is gone. I am sure he will have fair sucess any place he goes. If you can't say anything good about someone or something inteligent, don't comment! WOW!

LCC......it is not a better job.

Better facilities
District Championship
Regional Championship
Knox cannot claim those things over LCC. Knox does a new school and new football field but it is acookie cutter field, nothing spectacular about it, heck Knoxs scoreboard is just the size of LCCs jumbo tron.
I would also rank Breathitt, Belfry, Harlan Co, Bell Co, Corbin, Whitley Co, Hazard, Johnson Cent, LCC, Pikeville, Prestondburg, Rockastle, Russell, Sheldon Clark, Williamsburg above Knox.
Knox is in the league with Perry Cent, Clay Co, Lawrence Co, Middlesboro
People on here have short memorys because all they tend to remeber is last season. Knox had a losing season just 4 seasons ago and barely had a winning record last year at 7-5. I know the community over there is excited about their youth but too many folks are making a big deal out of Knox, I witnessed the middle school last year and they are one of the best ive seen. But that is a long way off yet to know if it means anything in high school. It is good to have dreams and hopes of being the best but they are not a better program that the ones listed above for sure at this point. They need to continually stay with a bunch of wins.

I dont think any of the highlighted teams could have beaten Knox last season!
