It had been pushed for two years (or so), and now it's finally for sure coming to Cincinnati!!
http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110...hoe-casino
Am I the only one that's pumped about this?!?!
The only thing that I don't understand is that it's going to be smaller than all of the Indiana, which a lot of their business comes from Cinci and Northern Kentucky, and I can only imagine that even more people will go to the one in Cincinnati who normally wouldn't make the trip all the way out to Indiana.
Personally, I'm pumped because I always need to pay someone to take me to the boats (since I can't drive), and, even then, it's hard to find someone that's willing to make the trip, but now it's just a cab ride away.
Not to mention the thousands of jobs- 2,100 for construction and 1,700- that it creates. It will also make downtown more attractive to come visit and hopefully it creates a lot more economic benefits downtown.
Thoughts?

I think all of that is especially true because of how much talk there has been about developing Covington because that would be a big step and a big attraction.

I am not really a fan of gambling. Gambling should either be legal or illegal but if it is legal, then governments should not be involved in its promotion and gambling businesses should be treated like every other business. Companies operating casinos and other gambling operations should be taxed at the same rate as any other business. At least casinos return a greater percentage of their income as winnings compared to the tax on stupidity known otherwise known as the lottery.
I personally would rather see gambling made illegal as to see government's greedy hands confiscating a big share of what should be profits or winnings. It is immoral for the government to be in the gambling business while it jails private citizens for engaging in the same sort of behavior.

Legislating morality = Big Government. Legislating morality that doesn't hurt an innocent bystander has never worked and never will. Which it usually makes laws that put's the common person in jail while someone with money, power, and privilege are allowed to do anything they want with no repercussions. I do agree with the statement about government taking too much of the winnings and profits through taxes.

Kentucky should get casino gaming. And not just what the neighboring states have done but Full Casino gaming including sport books like Nevada. The only way to get a head and draw outside the state people in is to offer something the neighboring states don't offer. We already have multiple gaming/gambling options and full casino gaming should be offered as well.

Yep, even planning on having a World Series of Poker event there.
Like I said, it's huge for the area and should draw in a lot of people.
Only a cab rid away for me!
