It also helped that Owsley's team is mostly freshmen and sophomores, who scored 42 of the 62 points.

And I have a hard time believing Coach Hall would allow his team to not give any effort, not with the post season tournaments right around the corner.

Owsley has probably improved since early in the season when they were getting blown out by 40 points in one game after another. With freshmen and sophomores every game is a new learning experience.

That is nice but I was at the game and it that didn't look to be the case. Owsley dominated the post all night. Powell had no answer. Owsley is really young and getting alot better. They also played last nights game without there starting point guard and only 3 ball threat. I say next season they will comptete well in this distrcit. Powell has some great players and really good at running a fast pace game, but they better fix the problem with the half court game or they will have trouble in district tournament with Lee and Estill.

Hope Powell got that bad game out of their system, before they head over to Estill on Friday. They were up 16 after 3 and coasted to almost a loss. Smile Can't let up and expect teams to just quit playing.

I dont understand this one but was a good game for the Owsley Co even if they did lose.

Congrats Powell

People are reading a little more into this game than they should be. Powell just came off a huge win against Knott Central and they had a let done against Owsley. At one point they were up by 21 points in the 3rd quarter. At the end of the 3rd they were up by 15. In the 4th quarter Powell just went through the motions. The game was never in doubt Owsley fouled down the stretch and Powell missed 5 free throws in the 4th quarter. The game was still in double digits in the last minute and a half. An Owsley player made a 3(Powell was not defending at this point) at the buzzer to make it a 6 point game.

I also think some players made bad decisions when involving other players would have resulted in points on the board instead of missed free throws.(work together Pirates you will go far if you do)

When Powell goes to Owsley you will see a more inspired Pirate team. Powell has won 6 of their last 8 games. You throw this one out because a win is a win.

I wans't saying that Owsleywas as good as Powell. I am saying that Estill and Lee will destroy them inside during the district. Owsley still has a ways to go but has improve as much as any team I have seen and still getting better. I think they will tell you what they expected out of this season to work hard get better and find what each of their players strengths are. They knew what to be prepared for this season. I will predict right now if Powell can't handle guys inside they will not make it out of district, because Estill and Lee play alot like Owsley did but better.

Powell seemed to do just fine against Knott and still won by 9 points. I don't see any other 56th district team beating them.
