Pikeville got out to an early lead. Hitting some early 3's and East Ridge is still adapting to scoring without cameron in the game. Toward the middle of the first quarter the tribe started to ROll and cut the lead to 6 about 2 min into the second. Then came the big tussel on the floor A pikeville player p ushed Jake, Jake pushed back and what should have been a double T was a single T levied against Jake and he got to sit out the rest of the second quarter. With Jake on the bench ER had no answer for the two big men and the lead went to 20. The second half ER came back and cut it to about 13 at the end.
Jake scored every time he touched the ball and he shut down the two big men completely. So hey We'll have Cam back next time, Johnny Miller wont play the JV game so he will still have legs in the 4th quarter. So hey congrats, we spotted you this one. But remember about basketball, theyre all practice till tournament time.

Jake deserved the T that he got. As for Jake shutting down the inside players for Pikeville that is one view point. Wes Rowe was in foul trouble and sat some in the first half. Layne Cecil played well and had 11. The inside game for Pikeville was not needed with the hot outside shooting for Pikeville. The players were hitting the gaps created by Jake staying low to guard the bigs for Pikeville.
Jake or no other player scored everytime they touched the ball. I am sure that Jake shot a high percentage but I do remember a few of his misses. I do feel that at his height and size he should be averaging 25pts 15rbs. There is no other player or team in this region that can match his size.
I agree the next game will be completely different when Justice returns. I and many others wish him a speedy recovery. I hate to see any player injured and not being able to play the game they love.

The big man for ER was ranked extremely high coming into high school. If someone wants to keep a high ranking such as this, then he must put the work in during the offseason.:dontthink

I am an adult and have been a fan of local sports for the past 20 years. What the students from Pikeville did with the sign was wrong. No excuse for that. They were escorted out of the gym (and they should have been). The problem I had was watching a female adult fan from ER come down to the Pikeville cheering section and complain about their behavior. This was not a school official but a fan. And the funny thing is this same adult was standing up and screaming at the refs before and after this.
My point is the adults often make fools of themselves more than the students and this is overlooked.
I am glad to see the school spirit back with the Panthers. It has been a long time coming.
HAIL PIKEVILLE !!!

Wes Rowe scored 4 points. 2 of which I am positive were scored with JM on the floor. Layne scored a lot outside of 10 feet. So, don't act like that was some huge difference.

As for the technical, the officials let the initial contact from both parties go. He received a technical when he blatantly shoved Layne a second time.

If the pep section is out of line it is the principal and AD's job to shut them up and make them be more respectful. At Lewis Co., if the students start a chant that is out of line, the AD and principal are quickly over there putting them in their place.

I will say, that makes two times that the student section has been talked about on here within a week. They are doing their job; being noticed.

Novel idea. There would probably less complaining going on and more cheering.

Officials are going to (or should) throw a technical when the player that responds with a 2nd shove--push. If this is what jm. did, then the tech. is justified, imo.

The Pikeville fan section is definitely doing their job. The Betsey Layne game they were talked about as well as this game. I believe the parents are complaining here when if it was their kid in that fan section that they wouldnt be saying anything.
Let the kids be kids!!!

I am NOT complaining about ANY Pep Section. Like I said earlier. I Like a loud and rowdy Pep Section. But, sometimes one can get or say some pretty rude things. We did back in my day also. I am just saying I understand what my parents were talking about now.
So keep gettin Rowdy! Nothing like a good pep section battle!!!! :Cheerlead

Fact is the cheering section has been awesome for years. Clay Elliott and Dusty Koshreza have led awesome cheering sections,
Fact is the Basketball team has not given them a lot to go on for the last 3 years. No regional appearances with some good players who won county Championships in Jr. High. Problem is most never finished their careers at Pikeville playing basketball.:please:

Warriors were out of rhythm. When you PG is out, especially when he is also your leading scorer, its a killer. An offense thats out of rhythm often leads to easy buckets on the other end. if Justice is in the game its a much different result. Does it overcome 13 points? I definitely think so. I think the 2nd go around is a much better result for ER if they are healthy. Jake. Keep your head. Your a senior. You've got a lot of games under your belt. Some coward pushing you out on a basketball court should not get inside your head. Make the next play and go on. You've heard it 1000 times but its true. Its usually the 2nd push or punch that gets caught. Its petty and it can cost you a ballgame. Now, ER. Move on. Re-focus. Take care of business the next time out and you'll be fine. One game does not a season make. if it's not tournament time, it's just practice anyway. This will help you come March. GO WARRIORS:redboxer: :notworthy

I was there and saw it all. Two people were escorted out my police for cutting down a sign and I thought the Pikeville fans were too much over the top. According to my sources, the cap gun or any toy gun is not allowed on schools grounds. I am also told that it sounds like there could be several KHSAA violations if someone wanted to press the issue. It seems that Pikeville's coach, principal, and superintendent would step up and calm this situation down. I am told this behavior has been occurring at all Pikeville games. I don't have anything against Pikeville -- never have, but for the reputation they try to carry, the actions of a few students have made their character much beneath them.

The only problem that I had with the cheering section from Pikeville was when I saw a young man 17 to 18 years of age) shove a child(13 years old) from the bleachers where he was standing. As a mother I was outraged. I went down to check on the boy. And asked him what happened. I also as the young man to move down and give the younger kids room and not do that again. I do NOT think I was wrong. NO young adult should ever put their hands on a child and shove them. So maybe you need to get your facts straight before posting about the female adult.

Time will tell, come march at the Expo, Bart will be sitting in the same chair he has sit in the past three years, upper corner of the Expo watching from the stands.

I would think Panther Thunder, me,or any other Panther fan should be able to support the team, school, or be in support of the student section without question. After all this high school competition and supposedly fun.:HitWall:

Only 1 turnover, and that came in the last 2:00 of the game. This one was never in doubt, lead was consistently 11-19 throughout the game. The defense could have played a little better, but when you are putting up that many points, it is OK to relax a little.
And a great show of support from the Panther faithful. I believe there were more in Maroon and White than Navy and Blue. By the way. We're BACKhh:
Very Incorrect!! The lead was cut to 5 when the big man McClanahan got the technical. Turning point for the Warriors. Both teams are good and It would be anyones game were Justice Playing. Still alot more quit in the ERHS than I would like to See. But way to go Panthers undoubtabley the best team in the Region!

Yes Jake did deserve the T he got...but what you didnt see is one of the Pikeville players had an 8th grader (Johnny Miller) by the neck. I was sitting on the first row, i can back up what i saw. If the pikeville players hadnt started whining to the refs like the bunch of crybabies they are, they wouldnt have even seen jake shove the Pikeville player. Bottom line is, when you lose a 20+ avg ppg player and probably the best defensive player on the team ( Camron Justice) things change. Pikeville, enjoy this victory, things will change when Cam is back.

LOL. The Pikeville players were not whining. Apparently your coach didn't like the fact that Jake lost his head either. He got quite the "chewing" as he was sent to the bench.
I do wish Justice a speedy recovery.

Another gem from the one and only Fred Taylor. It's really cute.
Of your 34 posts, 80% are directly bashing the Pikeville coaching staff. Let's make a long story short and have a disclaimer at the bottom of all of your posts:
"I have an agenda. Ignore this above statement, because if Bart Williams and Denny Paul May donated organs to needy children in Africa, I would criticize them for not giving them to American children. I apologize for wasting your time."
We understand that you have been personally offended by the man and that you do not approve of him being allowed to step foot in the T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association lists coaches' e-mail addresses on their site. A simple 2 minute search will provide you will the address. I suggest you send him an e-mail filled with diagrams and bullet points that describes the 'Fred Taylor Way' of running a high school basketball program. Because I am positive that is what will put this program over the top. We all clearly are ignorant in the teachings of basketball that only the General, Robert Montgomery Knight, and the Admiral, Fred Taylor, could comprehend. Again, we get it.
If you want a change, then great. All I am asking is do it with words that resemble an educated person's thoughts. "Bart Williams, in my opinion is not the right fit at Pikeville High School." How hard is that? But posting an obviously necessary and hilarious comment in every thread concerning Pikeville Basketball is not the way to go about things. From this point on, please only add discussion that is relevant and somewhat resembles a thought out response.

PT everyone has their own opinion of Bart. Bart's record speaks for itself and if what he has done satisfies you then that is your opinion. I personally think he has underacheived the last 3 years. Hopefully he can get the job done this year. My biggest complaint about the staff is that there are as many good basketball players not playing as they are playing. Imagine this years team with Steve Lane, Gavin Miller, Randy Maynard, Clark Keene, and the twins added to it. Regional Champ no doubt. The above mentioned names would not have needed 10 shots a game to be happy. I also think those might have been the top defenders on the team as they all played hard nosed defense and did not worry about averages. Think about that possibility PT, they all played through their freshman year and for some reason decided to quit, could it have been the coaches or were they burnt out.
