Next coach at Lawrence Co.?
#1
Time to move on!
#2
From what I am hearing, LC is interested in Shawn Hager from Sheldon Clark, but some of the other names I'm hearing is copley from GC, and some of the guys from the old staff.
#3
Some good choices on Salmons staff.
#4
Cecil would be a good choice too me... if he is interested that is.

i could only imagine the sc/lc game if hager was to take it

Cecil has never shown interest in getting the head job when it has been open in the past. Maybe his interests are different this time around. While i'm not a huge Mike Copley fan, I am also not against him getting the job either. I see him as someone who would stick around for quite awhile, and if he surrounds himself with good assistant coaches he is more than qualified to get the job done. His problem at his other schools were he was not there long enough to see just how good his teams could be.

I don't agree with recruiting/hiring coaches from rivalry schools. Let's hope that this decision is made by an informed group of individuals and not one man alone. Any news on who is on the search committee?

This is Copley's job. Chuke will be smiling when the belly is being ran again in Louisa.

Surely we can do better than Copley at LC. I mean a 7-6 season at Pikeville and then 2 losing seasons at Greenup and that's it... that is his coaching career in a nutshell.

Not all coaches experience success immediately. You can't make chicken soup with chicken ?*7t. I'm not sure what Copley had to work with at those schools but I do know you can't judge a coach solely on his record over a few years. Lawrence County's basketball team is currently 0-16. There closest game has been 11 points. Does this mean Coach Miller is a bad coach? NO chance. He has less than 10 players, several who have never played until this year, and a few of them are 8th graders. You can't win on the high school level with that. He has ample experience and has experienced success in the past. The bottom line is you can only do so much with what you have and in high school athletics records( both good and bad) can be misleading.

Regardless of what Copley had to work with or whatever my point is surely we can get a seasoned coach to come in to LC that has a PROVEN track record and not just settle for someone that may or may not have success.

I agree with you 100% in regards to the basketball team... but yet, like you said... he has ample experience and has experienced success in the past.

I was hoping that some of the staff would be here next season especially if cecil is our new coach.

I've heard a rumor over the past few days that this is not looking too good. I've heard that skinner will be leaving and alto as well. This on top of preece already saying he will not be back.

so whoever the new coach will be, hopefully cecil, will have a whole new staff
#13
Has any sort of timeline been set to hire a new coach.:flame:
#14
I love the comments you gave about not judging Copley by his short stay at Pikville and GC. I totally agree. If given the chance and given the resources that we've had in the past two years, he would have a 10 win season as well. Heck, I could coach a ten win season with that schedule. Copley would be a great hire! Along with Cecil as a D coach. Skinner helping and Alan Short helping.
#15
It won't be Copley.
#16
You know something we don't??? Or are you just guessing???
#17
I understand Mr. Cecil is not interested in the HC position, but would continue as an assistant if needed. I think Mr. Copley would need to modify his "wristbone" offense to have a more successful offense.
#18
Copley, or Burchett would be good.
#19
Burchett is not interested, that's a FACT. If you are correct and Cecil and Hager is not interested as well, then as far as I know there is one good guy left. One thing we all can agree on there's not an abundance of top level coaches lined up to come to Louisa and coach. With the school in such bad shape academically, we would be lucky to have Coach Copley. Just my thoughts. Pull the string and get him in before he goes off the board as well.

Randy Vanderhoof, former Raceland Head Coach

He still coaches baseball at Raceland. Doubt he's wanting to leave.

More succesful offense????? GC was the #3 rushing team in the state last season. Offense was not the problem. GC couldnt stop anyone.

You missed my attempt at some humor Kosar. When GC played at LC last year they had several delay of game calls when all 11 players would check their wrist bands, then look to the sidelines and check their wrist bands some more. It was like nobody had a clue what the play was. It might have been coach inserted new plays for a crucial district game. I realize that GC was only 3 or 4 wins away from being in the hunt for a state championship due to their powerful rushing game.

Talked to his son this morning and he said his dad is very interested in the LC job, now that's a fact.

I hope Burchett gets the job at Lawrence. He's very deserving of it. He's turned Powell County's program around.
#26
I work with Coach Burchetts son so we get to talk daily about the ongoing process. His father is excited about having the chance to come back and coach at LC.
