Are you saying Knox will be looking?

I am hearing from some pretty reliable sources around Knox County that Coach Mills is taking the position at Bell County. I personally hope this proves to be just a rumor but thus far I have no reason to believe that is the case. Having played for Coach Mills, I know that Bell County is getting a great coach. Hopefully Knox gets the ball rolling to find a replacement soon. Scott Russell would be my first choice. If Knox doesn't hire him as HC look for him to make his way to Log Mountain as well.

Knox will be looking by this time next week.

Mills has took the Job at Bell county. He accepted last night and just told the players.

Wow!!! Big mistake! Good luck. I look forward to handing him a few losses in the years to come. I hope he doesn't eventually drop KC off his schedule because of the switch. Glad to see him go if it was that easy for him to leave. Time to walk in the shadows of the house that Dudley built...your legacy at KC has ended. It will always be said that Dudley built it an Mills took it over. Thanks for putting our program where you did. Remember your legacy is over now you have the job to keep Dudley's legacy going on and on which will never be claimed as your own. It may not mean much now but in the future you will always be thinking, "WAT IF"? I know it was a tough decision to make. I hope you are happy and your family is as well.

I for one know that Coach Mills will be on the sidelines of Bell Co., but he is doing what is best for he and his family. If a coach and his wife can gain a better teaching position (meaning less to do in the classroom such as a Reading Specialist) then that is what he should do. No coach should ever be chastised by making a family decision. Good luck to Bell Co. and their new coach and Knox Co. and their new coach.
Post #462, it was and has been a deal for quite sometime.

Also whoever takes over for Wayne will live in his shadow, at the program he built. It works both ways. They may be able to win a district but that will be it.

listen i agree wit some of your opinions, but i cant blame coach for leaving bc Bell county football is to some a coach's dream, and plus we've got to deal with highlands and boyle county every year..

Which would immediately pull him out of the shadow because Mills never did that. Knox is a lot easier to take over than Bell.

Dudley has accomplished more than Wayne will ever accomplish. I am not knocking Wayne but that statement is way out there and I am sure other Bell fans would think the same. Wayne has not gave us a state title. He has not gave us a district title either. It would be very easy for someone to come into Waynes position and far exceed what he has accomplished. Wayne may never exceed what Dudley has done. You are talking about a life time! You are normally right with the subject but the shoes Wayne has to fill is far from the shoes that he was standing in. Waynes time at KC was just begining to be a factor in the last 3 years. Good luck with Wayne I wish him the best.

no matter if Bell went and hired Jimmy Johnson he couldn't even fill Dudley's shoes.. but all im gonna say is i would hope u all win a district title bc your district is weak and if u dont win he needs fired..

Best wishes to Coach Mills. While I don't agree with the move - I 100% support him as a friend and wish him great success in this move.

It may not be the best for Wayne. If it was money or benefits I am sure he was offered the same here. Oh well it is another day. Who's up for hire? Since Greer is leaving maybe he will apply at KC. Wow! Good Idea!!!

They are to good of friends. If Saylor pays him off with the AD job to keep him off the field...then maybe no.

Glad this thread is finally over. Sometimes I love being wrong. It just proves how much I need God every day of my life. I would have bet the farm that Wayne was going to coach in Knox. But I knew nothing. Man's wisdom usually works out like that in the long run.

Im sure he will do a fine job at Bell.I hope Knox County finds a compatible replacement for the kids sake.
