^ really? that's dumb
#4
Speed or Power Back?
#5
UK keeps getting these overlooked kids from other states. Hopefully one day they make the rest of the SEC pay for overlooking them.

EKUAlum, I always respect your thought on these recruits: Is this player a good sign for UK?

LWC Wrote:EKUAlum, I always respect your thought on these recruits: Is this player a good sign for UK?

Yes.

Do I think he is the next Moe Williams? DOn't think so..in fact it is going to be hard for him to make an impact at RB in the next few years w/ Sanders and Gainer on the roster. I think Uk gives him a shot at RB, then you see him move to either CB or Safety.

This kid is a big, talented athlete and that is what UK is lacking. He was the 2nd best player on a very good Atlanta Grady team behind Damian Swann who is an All-American. He is ranked as the #25 player in Georgia by Rivals..that in itself speaks volumes.

I look at three things with recruits in term sof how I view them:

1) Competition- He played for one of the top 3A programs in Georgia and played in the Atlanta metro area. In other words he saw D-1 players on defense nearly every week.

2) Video- He has good size, good speed, good agility, and surprising strength.

3) BCS/SEC Offers- He had offers from 10 BCS schools and 4 SEC schools. Most years UK is lucky to get a handful of players who held other SEC offers besides Vandy.

Speaking of UK FB Commits they added a new one today: Alvin Dupree 6'4 235 ATH projected as a DE.

#53 player in Georgia. He had an early conditional offer from Auburn and held a legitimate offer to Georgia Tech.

He is more a project player than Caffey as he comes from a 1A school in Georgia and didn't have a lot of attention.

So how are we looking for next year? Better or worse that this one?

Recruiting or the season?

Recruiting= This has the potential to be one of UK's all-time best classes. At this point UK is guaranteed two very good LB' s IMO to close out the class. If Dawson commits then UK will have two All-Americans, Jon Davis is a 4* Top 150 player on nearly every site besides Rivals as well.

Season= That is a big, fat variable. The defense will be improved light years returning 18/22 players in the 2 deep and 8 starters. The offense has serious questions as UK basically loses all their production from this season. I am thinking 6-6 as of right now unless we see some kids step up on offense.

Thanks EKU

Another leftover from Ga.
#14
Seriously?
Another Georgia player?
Does Joker know that they play football in other states, such as Florida?
#15
Those GA players turn out to be pretty good. Just think of all the great GA players that UK has had. Hard to blame him.

University of Pittsburgh has 1 player from Ga. on their roster and 69 from Pennsylvania.

Yes... but so does every other top coach in the US as well as Florida, FSU, Miami, UCF, USF.. UK is not going to beat out the 3 big name Florida schools for the bets prospects, let alone the UGA's, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU's of the world who also recruit the state heavy.

Would Pitt beat the SEC elites above UK with that roster though?
#19
Penn is a good football state though. It isn't Texas, Georgia, California, or Florida but it is a good state.

They keep doing that because they overlooked Shaun Alexander all those years ago. They're hoping to get a back like him!

EKUAlum05 Wrote:Would Pitt beat the SEC elites above UK with that roster though?

That doesn't matter, they beat UK with 69 in-state kids and with 1 kid from GA. UK runs all over the country, snubs Kentucky kids and still get beat by Pitt. Surely the state of PA. and their football programs are not that much better than Kentucky. But I would say that it means something special to those in-state kids from PA. to have that PITT on the side of their helmets. And it showed in the bowl game, they played with more intensity, pride and heart. And they didn't really even have a coach.

Way would a Running back go to a school that would pass it 90% to 95% of the time. Alexander pick the right school for his game.
A RB don't go to a pass school.

Like that boy from Fort Knox, that went to UK. If he would have went to a school that is 50-50 or 60-40, he might be in the NFL.

Here is two players. One pick a school that fit him, and the other one didn't.

Pennsylvania population of boys under 18, about 1.3 million
Kentucky population of boys under 18, about 500,000.

Hate to break it to so many on here.

Pennsylvania has much better talent than Kentucky.
