You missed the whole thought, Mr Panther Tradition. It is about the way that the Pikeville team played tonight. You are right in that Betsy Layne outplayed Pikeville... in more ways than on the court than you know. LoL

PIKEcountyFAN Wrote:I was sitting behind the goal on the far side and i will say BL outplayed Pikeville. But without a doubt, Pikeville has THE best student section in the Region. Im a graduate of 2003 and since ive been in high school, student sections ARE about insulting the opposing team. The Camo Cats didnt say much at all. I think they laughed at the score board once when they were up 3? LOL but the one thing Pikeville always had when I was there is a lean mean student section weather we won or lost. and thats what it takes to keep the spirit going because you just cant give up on your school. I for one laughed at the Bobcat Girls chant cause it was creative, yet another factor in being a great student section. Which obviously shook all you Floyd Countiers up like it was intended to.
The Rollercoaster was priceless to. Just things that stick them out from others. They way outdid BLs student section but on the floor the bobcats didnt miss much. Probably the best ive seen them play in a while. I look forward to a great Region tournament
There Have been quite a few times I have been in student sections that have chanted awful things at people, It is all in good fun. The rollercoaster is one of the most entertaining things ever lol. Last year we brought it out against JC and there kids could just watch they had nothing to match it. As for Pikeville I'm sure You heard Hail Pikeville enough for three lifetimes from that bunch. The best part is when they chant that then get beat it makes hearing it worth it lol. I just wish adults would quit worrying and let the kids say what they want. Its about the most legal fun you can have in highschool and it is a whole lot better than the alternative for what all those kids in the pep sections could be doing with their nights.

Sounds like you might be a coach! I thought Junior may have done the better job coaching. From my observation, both teams played hard however
BL scored more points and won. Defense good both ways, Pikeville settles too much for the outside shot. BL penetrated more and Pikeville settled. Simply put.

Nothing But The Kids Wrote:I would understand that kids are kids and they make mistakes. PEP sections try their best to get into the heads of the opposing team. This has been going on for years.
And by the way I was setting close to the BL cheering section and I heard a few rude comments as well. But I understand that this is a rivalry and students throw their emotions into the game. :eyeroll:
Well I went to Pville, have been a fan for years, have ribbed just as many people as anyone about scores: losses: and big claims on predictions, have tried to get on here and get people all worked up before games but I have never and would never make personal derogatory comments towards a child. If the fan section was trying to get in the players heads why talk about the cheerleaders. The bball team probably doesnt care that much what is said about the cheerleaders but the cheerleaders do.. Were they having a cheerleader competition that night as well?? I for one love the panthers but want our kids to be respectful and classy,, cheer the teams, rib the refs and opposing players, but leave innocent people out of it or its my last game. We can support our Panthers with class! But, its not the Expos Job to correct this, its perfectly within their right to do, and they are just kids. But I do hope the school administration cleans it up a bit!!

bball_fan Wrote:What kids? Chase Hall is the only transfer that left Betsy Layne for Pikeville that will come back to hurt them. Tyler Daniels who started at Betsy Layne is now at South Floyd. Dylan Meade who started at Betsy Layne a long time ago is now at Pike Central. Prestonsburg is the school that usually gets the most of the talent that Betsy Layne has to offer. And last I checked, if Pikeville was such a great place to be...why is Dylan Hamilton back in Blue and White?
From what i hear the kid wasnt good enough too start. Thats why he moved back

Thats what you heard!
You don't know though!
IMO Pikeville would be more than happy to have Hamilton on the sideline and/or the ball court

I didn't miss the point. Your post implies that someone or some people were playing selfish. I was at the game and didn't see that. Bottom line.

One thing I can guarantee is that if I was a coach you would not catch me on a sports forum listening to all us idiots bashing me. :blabbermo

Not idiots, just people stating there opinions either justified or unjustified. Glad your not a coach as you could get your feelings hurt on these forums if you were.
Pikeville can be very good, however the offense needs to be built around the complete team not just 3 point shooting. They have two of the better big men around and dont use both of them effectively. Also the spacing on offense is horrible, there is none. If they can incorporate these two things, I believe they could be a Regional Champ.
Congrats BL and represent the 15th well at state.
