East Ridge 58 - Shelby Valley 50
#1
Final

Camron Justice did not play for ER, but the other 8th grader Miller stepped up big time.
#2
Shelby Valley played well early, but stopped hitting shots. This was ER's first ever win at Robinson Creek...
#3
Johnny Miller was impressive with his poise at the free throw line down the stretch. I don't think he missed, but I may be wrong. He played big in Camron's absence. What exactly is wrong with Camron? Hopefully whatever it is he gets better soon.

I heard it may be something to do with his shoulder. Not sure though.

Great game from both teams.
Valley stepped up and played an overall well game. Got hot early from behind the arc, but fell to make a few shots when needed the most.

They couldn't buy an outside shot in the second half, and East Ridge shut down their scoring in the paint.

great win for ER. justice did hurt his shoulder, hopefully not out too long.
#8
I heard Justice tore his rotator cuff but this isnt a 100% fact.

Hopefully not. For someone who loves the game as much as him, it would be hard to take being out for an extended period of time.

I think both teams played well. I agree Miller stepped up big late in the game. I also think ER had a couple of players that got a sloppy late in the game. I don't understand why Coach J didn't play his other Big Man --42. I know he had a couple of early fouls, but the boy was hitting and dunking in warm ups. This guy has a lot to offer the team -- if he given the opportunity.

You realize that this is not true? Right?

That's how we felt 19 of the last 22 times... Anyone with an update on the cheerleader that was injured?

Could be wrong... This is what was said on the radio near the end of the game...

K, the radio was wrong then.

What year did ER beat SV at SV? I researched it on KHSAA and didn't see that they ever had. I may have overlooked it though. It almost seems like they have, but I didn't see it.

Shelby Valley was previously 19-3 against ER... Those wins were:

2002-2003 at ER in the District Final 63-61
2003-2004 at Pikeville in the District Final 53-52
2005-2006 at ER regular season 60-53

Tell me the other(s) that I'm missing...

The first statement was true from one perspective, but not from another.

It WAS the first win by East Ridge over Shelby Valley on their home floor, either in regular season or postseason play. But ER HAD won some games at Robinson Creek, in the 59th district tournament, just not over SV.

This is correct.

Before tonight, SV was lifetime 10-0 at home against ER, including two district title wins in '05 and in '08.

Ahh, good catch. I for some reason saw that as a ER victory.

This is incorrect. The 2005 game was at Robinson Creek, but Shelby Valley won this game by a score of 56-51. It is listed on the khsaa website.

I actually remember this game, as East Ridge came into it having won the district each of their first two years of existence, both by narrowly clipping SV in the championship game. Valley finally got their first postseason win ever over East Ridge, which propelled an excellent senior class on to their third regional title.

Anyway, congrats on the win to East Ridge. They have a good team, and the 59th district should be a dogfight between them and Pikeville. Good luck to the Warriors.

The Big man Jake played one of the best games Ive seen him play, and stayed out of foul trouble anybody got the players stats?
#27
Yes the miller kid did do a heckuva a Job. Odd how everyone talks about the inside getting shut down and no one mentions the 20 plus rebounds and around 11 or 12 blocks #55 Jake mcclanahan got.

Im sure RealBadMan is aware that he is considering he just said it in what you quoted. Lose a game and think you get some pride back this way? And I hope you keep compiling those win/loss stats cause looks like ER will go up two this year and two each year here after for the next 4 years so that may even it out a bit, especially considering that they played without their best player and a big contributor in his absence was and 8th grader.

congrats to East Ridge
