A 50-point effort
#1
The first 50-point performance that I am aware of in the state of Kentucky on the boys’ side happened on Tuesday night.

Wolfe County junior guard Sawyer Denniston, who is averaging around 25 points a game, hit 20 of 26 field goals and finished with 52 points, 13 rebounds and five steals in a 73-69 victory over Menifee County.

The 6-foot-3 Denniston was also 11 of 15 from the free-throw line.

That is pretty impressive, regardless who he plays for or played against. Congrats Sawyer.

Nice Game !!

Did anyone score 50 in a game last year? I know Timmy Knipp had 48 one game but I can't remember of anyone having 50.

Wolfe almost loss, nice game. When the ending score is 73-69 and 1 player has 52 points and another player has 15, where is the team? Sounds to me like there may be a ball hog. Now compare the other games, when there Hazard/Lincoln County what happened there..... sounds to me Wolfe would be easy to defend, lets guard the ball hog, no one else gets the ball. Again all shooters no defense........... Lets go Wolves!!!!!

Hard to not shoot alot of shots when your hitting them. 20 for 26...77%. Also 13 rebounds is pretty good for a guard you would think, even if he is 6'3. Dont know anything about Menifee and not much about Wolfe but 52 points by any player in high school while shooting 77% is pretty impressive.

You feed the player that is hot. If you don't feed the "ball hog", then you are coming out. Why tear down a great night by a kid? Petty jealousy. It was a close game. So many efforts are in blow outs. Congrats to Denniston!
