Bad year for SEC basketball?
#1
Tennessee gives up 91 pts and lost to College of Charleston.
Florida sneaks out a win agianst a crippled Xavier team.
Looks to be a very down year in the SEC.

I think that it is much too early to say. The SEC has a lot of young talent in it and teams like Kentucky will improve much more over the course of the season than veteran teams will. Tennessee has slumped, probably because of Bruce Pearl's situation, but they are a potential top 10 team Vandy is having a solid year. Some other teams have good records but have played weak, Louisville-esque pre-conference schedules (Georgia, Arkansas, and Mississippi) and it is hard to say how they may fare against decent competition.

This may be a year when several young SEC teams finish hot, get low tournament seeds and surprise people with strong playoff runs.

I said this before the season and got crucified....
you better look out

No worse than it's been the last few years lol.

I've been questioning the SEC as well. I really thought UT and Florida would be able to help UK give credibility to the SEC come tournament selection time, but that is not looking too good now.

Well the last few years UT was actually pretty good.
They were an elite 8 team last year.
This year they have UK and no one else is legit.

Been a horrible year for the SEC. Only two teams that have played good basketball are UK and Vandy. Florida has been decent, but they were extremely overrated before the season started. That idiot Digger Phelps picked them to win the NCAA tournament this year lol I cant believe how bad Tenn has played lately and that makes Pearls situation even worse. Winning ball games has been the only reason that he still has a job, and lately they haven't been winning. Pearl is an embarressment to SEC basketball and for him to constantly cry on tv about getting caught makes me sick. He broke the same rule in the past with having recruits at his house, then makes excessive phone calls to recruits, and lies to the NCAA. Wouldnt surprise me if Tenn. ends up getting the death penelty and that idiot athletic director is to blame.

The SEC West is HORRIBLE.
The SEC East is Bad.

The SEC is not good.

The West is seriously a joke.

Only 4 SEC teams makes "The Big Dance".

Thats how down it is.
#10
^ Only 4 made it last year.

The SEC is bad. Matter of fact so is the ACC. Big 10 and the Big East look pretty good so far this season.

I agree with you - in the ACC it's dUKe, in the SEC it's UK. But the Big 10 has been surprising, and the BEAST is always good.

I don't think a team in the SEC west could win the OVC, they're that bad.

The SEC east is turning out to be a lot weaker than what I thought. Tennessee & Florida may be the only other teams besides UK to make the NCAA tournament out of the SEC.

Vandy and UGA is better than most think. If both keep winning and to 20 wins on the season they both make the dance. Vandy has some good wins under the belt this season (Marquette and North Carolina.) and went into the 10# ranked team in the nation in Missouri and lost by 3 in OT. I say aleast 5 teams still make the dance from the SEC.

^ 5, We are used to 8-9

Morehead State throttled College of Charleston, who just went into Knoxville and got the Win.
#17
SEC will be just fine.

They ranked the top conferences in basketball last week on ESPN.
The MWC was number 3.....
the big conferences simply aren't performing as well as they are acustomed to performing
