All-Mountain Football Team
#1
Can anyone post a link or list of WYMT's All-Mountain Team released last night?
#2
I don't have a link, but I found them to be pretty awful.
#3
IMHO YMT should stick to coverage. Their all mountian teams are never even close to right. Sorry Derrick just stating fact.

What is so wrong about it? I look forward to it every year. I think they do an outstanding job selecting the team. They try to get as many kids from different schools as possible. I'm sure not all their selections are "perfect" but, overall nothing really to complain about. And you weren't "stating a fact", you were giving your personal opinion.

You can please all the people half the time and half the people all the time.
#8
I think it is awful that the offensive lines are done as a unit (one team being the first, second, third team). None of the other positions are done that way.
#9
Not a bad list to me. Thank you Derek for working on it and posting it. If I had to find a complaint from someone (and I would have to look hard), it seems that Pikeville had a regional finalist with only a kicker on the all-mountain team. That seems unlikely, and I am not a huge Pikeville fan.

Otherwise, I don't see any glaring omissions. Would like to see a team of all of these players take the field.
#10
i see a couple of bad omissions brandon ball from north
brandon lee and jordan elliott from south all three should be on this team but all three have been left off a couple teams they should be on
#11
oh yeah what about the hooker kid from clay co.
#12
Hooker made the honorable mention list. May have a point on the others.
#13
3A player of the year Avery Ray no mention lol what a f'n joke
#14
Congrats to all these young men!

3A Player of the year? He got District 8 player of the year, an award that was voted Week 4. Avery's my boy, but that award belonged to either Pruitt from Belfry, or Boggs from PC.

The number one problem I have with it is naming skill positions by names, and lines by teams. That is wrong...FACT. Sorry about the misspell D.
#17
I can't really argue with anyone from South not making it, they were an 0-10 team. Tyler Vaughn was the only one mentioned and rightfully so. Lee was an extremely talented player and could have possibly made it but I couldn't see Elliot making it. WYMT does a great job of covering these kids. The line operates as a unit and should therefore be recognized as such it would be difficult to find the lineman stats and recognize them separately as they don't pop out like the skill positions.
#18
Perhaps the most dangerous and most athletic player in the mountains (on either offense or defense) can't even get an honorable mention at any position?

Where's Johnson Central's JK Hall?:please:

ray had over 1400 all purpose yards and missed a couple games due to injury he also had 5 or 6 picks on D sc held jp to under 50 yrds
#20
Jk hall Is the only bad ommission I can see.

IntheZone Wrote:ray had over 1400 all purpose yards and missed a couple games due to injury he also had 5 or 6 picks on D sc held jp to under 50 yrds

All purpose. But only 600 rushing. Maybe as a utility player Ray makes it, but obviously there were 3 better.

Ya know who didn't? West Carter, Mason County, Russell, Somerset, and Louisville Central. He had 1500 rushing on the season, about 300 receiving, and about 20 touchdowns rushing/receiving.
Oh yeah, and only 1 game under 100 yards rushing in the playoffs, and only one game without at least one TD (it's okay, he had 2 TD catches in the less than 100 rushing game, and 179 rushing yards in the game w/ no touchdowns.)
#22
ok so elliott can get an invite to the all world have an all star team that is going to japan ask him to play and anyone who watched him play knows the kid can play dont know who you are but you either dont like or you just have never seen him play
#23
oops imean dont like him i mean dont get me wrong all those kids deserve to be on that but jordan elliott deserves to be on that just hasnt gotten any recognition in this state at all i mean you have players making all state that arent half the player he is but that is ok because **** just keep playing when alot of those players wont be dont mean to offend anybody but im juststating my opinion and fact
#24
Congrats to Tim Smith for his thrid team honor, and Rusty Roberts for his HM WR spot
#25
All looks good WYMT once again did a great job on this as they have every year.
Congrats to the Corbin players that made the team.
Mathew Taylor
Saxton Okuma
Nick Howington
#26
Great honor for Sani Warren, a FROSH, to make the all-defensive team.
#27
Derek:

Congrats to the kids that made the team!!

Derek:::Big Grinid you lose the Pikeville list of players...look at their schedule..Come on

I don't know the kid personally so I am giving an unbiased opinion. I am just going by what I saw and his stats which say he finished 5th in tackles on the team and around half of those were assisted, had 3 rushes for 17 yards and had 1.5 sacks this year on an 0-10 team. Statistically speaking Binder, Berry and Burns had better seasons than Elliot. With South's record only Vaughn should have been mentioned though.
#30
Probably the biggest mistake I saw on the board was Pikeville's Vanhoose being 3rd Team, saw all three of the kickers mentioned and he was by far the most impressive.
