I don't know about that. Shelby County is pretty bad this year.

Clay didn't look like the #1 team in the mountains last nite.

Shelby County lost 5 seniors and ever varsity player from last year. None of their players had played varsity before this year.

Well I haven't seen Johnson Central play yet, but I think they return 4 starters from last years team which was a pretty decent team and on the roundball preview they said something about a transfer from Lawrence Co. I haven't been real impressed with Hazard either and Im sure that will change when the football players get back in the swing of things. But for now I will say Johnson Central.

I think JC is the best team in the 15th, which at this time, I would consider wide open untill all the football players get basketball ready. I wish Johnson Central would have been in the Wymt Classic this year. IMO Clay is the best and they'll get a chance to prove it in the Wymt Classic. I cant wait for that tournament.

It's gonna be a good one.

yeah, bad is a little harsh. Inexperienced, and actually took some steps forward last night, especially since 36 fouls called first half...one ref was a joke. Tough environment, played hard, never seem to quit. Lot of varsity minutes for young guys. Both teams in this county (Martha Layne -new school and Shelby) are in for a long year...and Shelby has a brutal schedule. #21 for clay shot the ball well, and Hooker didnt start really get going until the 3rd quarter. Clay is good.

Shelby County didn't impress me, what kind of style were they trying to play? Play bad defense and see if they could shoot more threes than Clay? Thought Perry looked good at times, need to cut down on the turnovers.
12-11-2010, 01:47 PM
Well, Clay beat Corbin by 7 in OT at Corbin and Perry Central beat Corbin by 20 at a neutral site. Take what you want from all that. Clay had a lot of turnovers early against a mediocre press. Clay looks to have some work to do if they're going to be the best team in the mountains. More thoughts from others???

My understanding is they want to get up and down the floor, but they don't really have the athletes to do that. They don't have a post player either, so I'm sure that's why they shoot 3's. Again, you don't split schools, most of these kids are not getting minutes, or playing at all. Across town at MLC, it's looking more and more like if you shut down their 6'4" sophomore, you have a good shot at winning, as that team is mainly football players playing basketball.

Shelby didnt impress. I left at 1/2. Grats CC

Clay County is worthy of the #1 team in the mountains. Shelby County is down but Clay made it look easy beating the press and finding open team mates. They got several players who can score so that makes them very dangerous in my opinion.

congrats to Clay

Congrats to Clay and Coach Marcum -- classy guy and quite the baller himself in the early nineties.

Clay County should keep the #1 slot in the mountains. They are a very good team that really knows what they are doing! They are not only athletic but, academic. They done a very good job at winning this game! Keep up the good work boys!!
