Just wondering about some rules. I was told that the new school in Allen KY, Wesley Christian School could not join KHSAA due to they are not a full school. Right now they only offer 9 and 10 grade.

My question is what does it take to be a member school of KHSAA?

Can they play schools in KHSAA and not belong to it?

The family member who told me this was upset. They feel like they are not being treated fair. However when I tried to read the rules it looks like your school has to have 9-12 grade which they do not.

Just checking with anyone who might know before I try to explain this to them.

Case C-III-1- What is required for a school to be eligible
for membership?
A school is eligible for membership if the student body consists
of students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 or 10-12, and
operates under the auspices of a local school board, diocese
or other regional body, or comparable organization, and is
recognized by the Kentucky Department of Education as able
to present a diploma. In addition, all schools shall agree to
abide by the rules of the Association as enumerated on the
membership application.

ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP
This association shall be composed of public schools (grades 6-12)
that are accredited by the Kentucky Board of Education and nonpublic
schools that voluntarily comply with accrediting standards of
the Kentucky Department of Education. Member schools are required
to comply with the provisions of the Kentucky High School Athletic
Association Constitution and Bylaws. No school shall become a
member or continue to be a member whose detailed fi nancial
(athletic or otherwise), scholastic, and attendance records are not
matters of public property or record. Grades K-5 shall not be eligible
for membership.

Thanks for the replys. Just wanted to get my "ducks in a row" before I set this person straight. I get tired of people wanting people to break the rules for them. If you want you child to play ball then send them to a school that has a program. Do not try to change the rules so that you get you way.

This is not just a law for KHSAA it I do believe was also put in place with the help of the Kentucky Department of Education.
