That means alot coming from such a die hard Central fan.
I honestly believe that our girls should have been in the championship. The game against PC was the best showing that I had seen all year until the last couple of minutes in OT, I can't say that I blame the girls for getting frustrated but taking that tournament was what should have been done. No need to look at the past though, just have to plan for the future.

Slama, I am glad that you give credit where credit is due as well. Central played a pretty good game against us the other night and they do have some talent to work with this year. I wish those girls luck in the future as well.

Well i just watch the games and i see alot of things...Our girls are good but just way way to young right now to really comprehend how to play at the high school level...ER is more mature and have been playing with one another for 4 years and that is what makes them so good they know where one another is going to be on the court at all times and they right now are the sleeper in the 15th region i belive they could as of now beat any team in the region after watching them play...But i still wish they played in some rough tournaments like the Ashland tournament and such, that view will not change...All Er needs to do is hope and pray that injuries do not bite them b/c i dont think they are very deep on the bench are they? Another question this group of seniors didnt they win the county tournament their eight grade year???
#7
Well as far as being deep on the bench let's see here...They have Balridge, Belcher, and Adkins that come in second string and play. They have some other sleepers on the bench though if the need arises.

East Ridge has a great team this year and these girls have been working together for quite some time. I like it when Smith, Hogston, Conley, and Yates are all on the floor together because they all go way back. They played basketball at EC growing up and they know each others style. Yates is perfect at a 1 because she knows where everyone on the floor is or is going. She reads the people well because of her experience with those girls.

I'm not sure about the 8th grade tournament or not. I stopped playing Jr. High basketball at the end of my 7th grade season so I can't recall who took it our 8th grade year.

I know many, many players on that team and let me just say that I love to see them play. I have grown up with those girls, espically the four that I named prior, and they have what it takes to step up this year and bring home the first district title for the girls.

The team had a 16-12 record last year. It's not that great but 16 wins in a season is not bad at all. That team also did not get the recognition for it. There was not alot of support and they really didn't impress me as a whole BUT this year I intend on following the team and supporting them 100% because I believe that they can make it happen.

Central does have a young team and it takes alot for girls to come from the Junior High level and step up and play Varsity. They have to get used to a different crowd and reactions from them, having to compete with bigger, more experienced girls. Some go from being at the TOP of the league in jr. high to the very bottom when adjusting to Varsity and that alone is a big transition.

Congrats East Ridge!

But when you look at it Tribe if Yates gets hurt one game then your down your # 1 guard and that means that you are going to take someone from your 2 guard and be putting them in the 1 spot screwing everything up now only that then you are bringing in Adkins or another who does not in my eyes have the poise as the starting 5...As well Yates IMO is the only true ball handler and if you lose her you lose basicly your whole press break...As well if the big girl inside gets hurt then you are losing that rebounding edge that they have over the majority of teams...IMO injuries SUCK for every team not just ER i was just thinking about this the other night during the game as i watched you all...

Congrats to ER

Serious injuries would hurt our team alot, as well as fouling out does in games.
Yates is a big time ball handler. She brings the ball up the floor majority of the time. I can't see her being easily replaced because like you said, not alot of the other girls have the ball handling skills that she possesses. Jodi is a great player. She is willing to pass the ball to the open girl and just take the assist rather than get the points and the glory from shooting. Hogston is a FORCE and a half inside the paint. She has an edge over most teams because of her height. Fouling out against PC that night really hurt our team but total we had over 40 rebounds. Hogston does alot on the inside and plays a major role in the paint with defense AND offense.

If something serious happened and Yates had to be taken out of the game I think that they would put Adkins or Belcher in her spot, depending on who was on the bench at the time. Neither of them are as experienced as Yates but they would have to work with it and see what they could make happen.

Conley could and would probably have to step down as the center. She does not have the height of Hogston but she can work the paint as well. Conley is one that is multi-talented. She can handle the ball, rebound, drive, shoot 3's, layups, take charges, whatever you need out of the girl just ask.

Messing any of the starting five up wouldn't be a good move because like I have stated before, the girls just know each other. They have a knack that has came along with years of playing on the same team that allows them to know all of the other girls' styles and where they will be and when. Having that gives them an upperhand on teams that are just sticking five girls with talent in there at the same time.
#12
But now do you see what i mean that would kill them but i could see them working through it...
#13
Yea, it would hurt them ALOT.
Yates and Hogston both are some tough mamajamas. They worked through some injuries that the Hawks dealt out. Yates has a huge bruise and knot on her shin and it looked pretty grody.
They would just have to work with what they had and tried to make some adjustments and work through it.
#14
mamajamas i like that lol
#15
Wink That's exactly right.

Take random thoughts to a PM please, don't want to hijack a thread with random thoughts.

Thanks.

Yes they did win area their 8th grade year and were county runners up. They were defeated by Turkey Creek in the championship.
#18
Turkey Creek cancelled every game that we ever scheduled them during the 3 years that I played jr. high basketball. Never ONCE got to play that team.

The team mentioned though, 8th grade winners, was a dang good team. Alot of teams in the county had lost their starters and that team had their best starting five at their peak in jr. high ball that year. Awesome set of girls.
#19
yea thats what i thought thanks...

This must of been an off night for JC. They are the 20 point better team. ER is very overrated!!!

Is that why they are gaining the respect of people all over the region that has put them down in the preseason and said that they would be sooo god awful this year? They aren't overrated in the least, people are just now recognizing that the team even has talent. When they hung in there with Pike Central, won over Johnson Central, and things like that....it shows that they have talent and there is ALOT more to come. Overrated...ha.
#22
Yes, Conley,Yates,Smith, and Hogston got 2nd there eighth grade year in the county tournament.. Yes, they are the starting four fo the Lady Warriors program.. If they work hard in my opinion they can do very well in the season.. SlamaBama, I would like to thank you for congratulating us in our win, since you are such a big Central fan.. I do wish you team well in their season..
#23
Snoop don't you think that if ER was so overrated that they would actually be ranked in like the top 10 or something? ER has talent and you just can't stand it because they are actually going to go somewhere this year. When slamabamma compliments them, you know they have got to be doing something right.
#24
AWWW you all are making me feel all warm inside lol...Snoop ER really is an explosive team so early in the season, they have stuck with Pike Central who has been a power house every since they entered the 15th region and then they defeated a JC team which was ranked above ER in preseason rankings...The fact is as of right now they are in the top three in my picks for region and to win the 59th...
#25
I agree with you SLAMABAMA ER is just now getting the recognition that they have been needing... Some many people underestimated those girls and now they are getting to see what the ER team actually has. From this point of what I have seen it is quite alot. Those girls are actually working together as a team. Snoop I think that you might need to just go out and watch one of those games when ER plays next. The best advice I can give to you is that you should have been at that game when ER played Johnson Central and I can guarantee you that you would understand where everyone is getting there good comments for ER at...
#26
Look at my username. I am one of ER's biggest fans regardless of the sport. I went to the Pike Central game a little skeptical. I have posted realistic opinions here. I was honest in saying that I didn't think that they could win the region. I was realistic, period. BUT I have watched those girls play and now my opinion has changed. They are my pick for the district tournament and should be playing strong in regionals. Do not underestimate this team because I did, even slightly, and they proved me wrong.
#27
ER is far from being overrated they are a great team this year and they have improved alot since the preseason if anything they have been underrated up until now and they are finally getting the respect that they deserve and like Tribe said for Slamma to say that you know it's true and I'd like to thank him for congratulations on the game.

Way to go Warriors!!!!
#28
