Teams having hard time finding teams to play next year?
#1
Heard from a good source this weekend that Highlands is having a very difficult time filling their schedule for next year. I was told they only have 4 games scheduled (along with the district games), and can not find anyone to fill the empty dates. Moving to 4A seemed to hurt I was told, because most of the 4A teams already had their schedules filled. I was wondering if any other teams are having the same trouble?

Johnson Central is struggling to fill its schedule. Still have a couple open dates and running out of potential opponents.

Highlands has always had a difficult time filling out a schedule. That's why they played Ryle twice during the regular season the last two years

More Cincy teams for HHS? Is there enough money for them to travel South (TN, GA, AL) to get some tests and make it fun for the team?
#5
Tell them to contact the Pike County Bowl committee... might be able to work a Belfry/Highlands matchup that would pull a huge gate in Week 1. The PCB needs to get back to bringing in the best teams as it is, and none is better than Highlands who has played in the game before.

Highlands and JC would be a great game and would draw a huge crowd!

They are very similar. Both have great Coaching staffs that have their teams playing at a very high level as far as technique and systems, great programs, great history and dedicated players but Alcoa also has outstanding individual players. Alcoa is very, very athletic and would have that advantage on the Bluebirds. For that reason year in and year out I would take Alcoa. HHS is very similar to Maryville which is Alcoa's biggest rival.

Alcoa has bested Maryville in the past couple years, but until then didn't Maryville have a pretty nice winning streak in tact? Wink

Thanks. Thanks a lot. You know what that means?

We play em the next year. :devilflam

I don't even care, that would be pretty cool. Pikeville vs. Highlands. 68-0 at the half, but hey we are in it for the fun haha.

That would be a GREAT game but I think the Tornadoes would win!

I'm not sure but I know that Alcoa has won the State Championship 6 years in a row and look like they're going to make it number 7 this year!

Not if the PCB went back to the days of single year matchups....

I wouldn't mind seeing a throwback to the late 80's

Pikeville vs. Beechwood
Belfry vs. Highlands

Then the next year do a little:
Pikeville vs. Rockcastle County
Belfry vs. Ft. Campbell

I'd rather it be in two years when Belfry's young talent has matured a bit though Big Grin

I would guess that all teams would be waiting for the realignment to put a solidify a schedule.

I can live with this one

This would be a good game, but for a regular season game, it is a long drive(cost) and it would keep alot of fans from seeing the game for the away team. Do the positives outway the negatives? I am not sure.

They were invited to a central ky bowl game and turned it down. Could have been the date but I know they turned it down. Actually I assume it was because of the date.

Why doesnt Bell Co get a invite to the Pike Co Bowl for?
#19
Seems to be a lot of schools, stalling on the schedules. Lot of schools have requests as to either move up, down or district or region changes. Close to half of the schools have some kind of request. Apparentlly this didn't go as smooth as they thought.

Personally I think they screwed up, have you seen the distance some of these schools have to travel for games. Some schools have regional alignments that could cause 8 hour bus rides ... 2 hours to your closest district school ? Oh please ...

They are meeting on Monday I believe to answer the "requests". :argue:

They were invited in the past...but in recent years the PCB has turned into a poor, poor reflection of its past. Bell played a couple times and had prior obligations in others. All those invites were not recently though. Now, too many politics, 2 year series, and people crying foul about not getting their share of the money.

When it was a one night deal at WC Hambley, bringing in two of the best teams from around the state it was truly one of the best bowls in Kentucky...

I think a 2 night deal could work, but not the way it is ran now with the people who would cry foul if their team was left off.

Watching a Bell Co/Belfry game would be awesome.

May be getting your wish nearly every year moving forward if Bell can win their appeal. I, too, would love to see these two programs matching up regularly. IMO, the two proudest programs in the mountains and the two best HCs.
