Your Opinion on this Video? (WARNING: Explicit Language)
#1
This video has long been a favorite of mine. The school is Miami Northwestern High School. A school that has produced dozens of D-I Football Players. The coaches are tough on these kids, they use profane language, and they are sometimes physical. I know the majority of responses to this video will be critical. But I love their style of coaching, and was wondering if anyone agreed with me. So, check it out, and post your thoughts. (Warning again: Explicit Language)

i have to agree with you on the style of coaching. i love it. they may have went a litle overboard on the physical contact but i believe this style of coaching is what makes champions.
#3
like the coaching. but i see a d-1 all-star with the worst attitude ever

How many graduate? What's their GPA. How many D1 players in 5 years. Intense coaching is o.k. but out of the few D1 players, you'll have 95% degenerants. No respect for nothing.

Pitiful. Sorry excuse for coaching, IMO.
#6
Remove the language and coaching was fine by me.

Not my cup of tea either. If this reflects a lot of high school coaches out there, it does help me better understand the behavior of college and pro football players.

Coaches do more than just prepare kids to play football; they should help prepare kids for life. To the extent one believes that kids reflect their role models and that a high school coach is one of those role models, the coaches in this video are doing an absolutely terrible job of preparing these kids.

And they wanted that to get out in the media??? I expect to hear that kid is in prison in the next few years.

I agree. I dont see him making it in College because of his lack of self control. I wouldn't want him on my team.

love it, minus the attack.

A person is judged by their manners. The coaches at this high school are not worthy to coach my son. A coach must teach discipline and tacked. Profanity is unacceptable around anyone with respect for others! Would you talk like that in front of your mom? grandma? Terrible!!:yikes:

It would be interesting to know the ages of those that love that video and those that think it is a disgrace.

Besides the fighting the players..I think its a great coaching method..The cussing could be cut back some but other than that..Good call.

Pathetic.

This makes me sick. Grown men acting like this....very sad and terrible examples. All they care about is winning games and are the true example of arrogance. They will stand accountable to God one day for their actions and it will not matter how many games they have won.
#16
Wow!....unbelievable!....they'er use of positive reinforcment is just precious!
Crazy people out there!

There is a coach in 4A who is alot like these guys or so it seemed at camp one year. Saw the coach throw a kid to the ground and every time he would try and get up he would kick him in the @$$ to knock him back down did that for 100 yards. Note: The kid had gotten into a fight moments before.

Love It.
With this it teaches the players to respect the coaches more. You cant coach players who dont respect you.

You asked people to give their comments and opinions and, that is exactly what I did. I will add to it since you liked my comments so well.....I can sum up this kind of coach in one word-Idiot.

Well I figured since this is in a sports thread it would stay on the sports aspect of it. My apologies.

This is pitiful.
First off When parents of the kids on the team see this id say they will be outraged.
second, that coach wont be working there very much longer.
Third i honestly think the cussing wasnt to bad or the slapping of the head because that is to get players fired up. But when a coach tackles a kid that is when it is to much. There is a line and this video crosses it, and to the player he needs to clean his act up and realize what he has before no one signs him because when teams see this no one will want him. That is the number one thing coaches look for when recruiting, to see if your a hot head or not.

OK, several people are making this mistake.

The video is from 2003.

Charles signed with Florida, was dismissed after a fight, and enrolled in Bethume-Cookman. He did not make an NFL Team.

The coaches are no longer at the school, because of off the field problems.

And I will back off my comment a little bit, I do like the style, but it is probably best served for certain situations. I wouldn't have a problem with it if I saw it, but I do understand, it just won't work in most situations for a variety of reasons.

Coaching a team from that area is definitely not an easy thing to do. Most of the kids are exposed to things that in this area, we would never imagine. They have to do what they have to do. This team produced results. The facts are for a lot of these kids, that is the thing they will succeed in most in life. Hopefully they can build on it, but without that taste of success they would be even more likely to fail. Is it a perfect method? Nope. Did it work? In a lot of ways, yes.

So i was 3 for 3 on my post lol and i just have one question...you say you agree with the method of this crazy mans coaching but if your son was playing for them and he tackled him and gave him the most mental and verbal abuse of his life, would you stand for it and say oh well i love his methods, or would you go beat some ***? lol
#26
I'm totally old school. I liked it. Very entertaining. Maybe this is the most effective way to handle this team. These kids grow up hearing profanity and I'll bet their parent or parents don't care. Football, like it or not is all about winning. Those who say it is not aren't being honest with themselves and will continue to be losers. Our coaches used to tell us 2nd place is for losers, and they are right. Thats why it is the most successful public school in the state.

I can't say that I know what it is like to have a son yet, but the circumstances would have to be determined. If it was a coach I respected and knew the intent of it, I would let the man do his job. He obviously wasn't going after the guy to do any harm. If my son acted like that, I would hope the coach would straightened him out within realistic means.
#28
I agree with what you are saying 100%. If i respected the coach i would let him do his job, but this man doesnt seem like the guy that most repsect. To him his methods might be good. But the thing is the coach has to show repspect to the kids before the kids can respect him. You will see it around here most all boys respect their coaches and their coaches respect them.

Obviously dog you are wrong in the way to handle it. According to what happened to the player and the coaches , this was not the way to coach.

Well, I'll be a little less diplomatic. What I saw was a bunch of inner city hoodlems. It doesn't surprise at all that some coaches and players ended up in trouble. Football had nothing to do with their bad character, they were born and raised to have it. Football only kept them off the streets for a few hours a day. The coaches were brought up the same way and know how to handle thug wannabees. They were producing a winner and thats all that matters. Open your eyes man! They were doing exactly what was nessessary to control these punks.
