The locals around Somerset is calling this the Backyard Brawl. Pulaski County takes on cross town rival Southwestern for the District Championship. Will the 6-1 Maroons come out the District Champs or will the Warriors avenge the 16-6 loss from last year and defeat the Maroons on senior night?

Not sure why, but just a hunch that the Warriors will make a game of it.
If SW can control the ball, eliminate turnovers and limit PC's offensive touches, they've got a shot.

This should be a great game! The Warriors are much improved from the beginning of the season and seem to be hitting stride at the right time! Right now I'm going with Pulaski County's high powered offense to be the winning factor for them in this game! But, SW has a very good chance to win if they can go out there and take control and force Pulaski to stop their running game it could be a different story! The Maroons have looked weak at times on defense against the run and I think a good example of that is the Henry Clay game where the Maroons had to score three times in the 4th Quarter to put it into OT. Although Pulaski did have 4 or 5 turnovers in the game they still struggled against the run! So this game is going to be decided on which team can come out and control the game and play their style of football which at this point in time I think it will be the Maroons!

Pulaski has the ability to blow this game open....but I feel that the Warriors will keep this game much closer than many of my Maroon friends would like. In the end SW doesn't seem to have enough speed to contain PC all night, and haven't shown enough speed to get away from Pulaski when the Warriors have the ball.
If SW can run the ball effectively on 1st and 2nd down then they will stay in this game all night. They need long time consuming drives that produce points, even if it's a field goal they need productive drives. Pulaski needs to focus on getting the ball in space to their numerous playmakers and let them make plays. On D Pulaski needs to sell out to stop run and make SW try to throw as much as possible, that would give Pulaski's speed a chance to get to the ball.
SW has a lot of size upfront on both sides of the ball and many would give them the advantage up front, but I think Pulaski's lines are very under estimated and disrespected.
Pulaski's D line is as big as the SW O line but are quite a bit quicker. I look for the Pulaski lines to control this game and Pulaski to pull out a hard fought victory.
PC 29
SW 20
I look for these two to meet again at the winner of this games home field in week 3 of the playoffs, for the Region Championship.

Probably not for Pulaski lol

I think SW will hang tough, but in the end Eastham and Abner will be too much for the Warriors.

Yeah I agree with you there, they're the two main components in the Maroons high powered offense!
Current Stats for the two:
Zach Eastham: 1576 pass yds, 24 pass TDs, 635 rush yds, 5 rush TDs
Alex Abner: 382 rec yds, 6 rec TDs, 639 rush yds, 14 rush TDs

The main question of this game is, will SW kick it to Abner? Remember the last time PC was at the Reservation, Abner returned 2 kicks for TDs and another over 90 yards to the SW 2 yard line. Abner dominated in all 3 phases of the game to help get PC the win. Looks like it will be a dry night which means PC's speed will have the advantage.

No Offense but District 8 talks alot of junk, for not doing anything. If I am not mistaken didnt PC roll over district 8 last year on its way to Semi State...?

That was 2 years ago dude. I remember when the VOLS use to be a good football program, good grief.

True but all those players that made UT a good football program are gone. Abner is still at PC and a senior instead of a sophomore.

I agree District 8 is extremely overrated. PCC/Casey Co. and Somerset/Casey Co. games are a perfect example of this. I think PC and SW both win at least one playoff game.

How in the world does Clay hold Knox to 9 in a 9-6 loss and give up 42 to the Cards?

With this game being a huge rivalry I think the warriors are going to fare mighty well in this game. Look for this game to be a back and forth game.

This game is close enough to say that whomever is home team gets the victory, in this case it's Southwestern. But I think it will be similar to last years game with no more than the 22 points combined that they put up last year. This will be a brawl.

Class all of sudden matters for on the field performance....? If thats the case then Mike Hartline should be POY. Abner is a good player, but if you want to say that just b.c he is SR now, and the game is at SW, that he is going to turn into former KC KOR Dante Hall, well than ok.
Captain, you are awful rough on Spencer....Why?
