Is it me, or does the '99 Pikeville/Paintsville teams look huge? Those were some big ol' boys.

Great job with the vids!

Hillard Howard told me he lost most of his game tapes in a flood! He said "I just don't take care of things the way I should". Shame on you Hillard!

That was my Freshman year, and YES, both teams had some big ole boys. It seems like teams from EKY get smaller every year, except Lawrence, their team this year is huge. Prestonsburg also had some big boys.

Do you have a video of the 1999 Pikeville - Harlan playoff game ? Harlan had a good team that year.

Yes, I am currently working on a few projects and that is one of them.

Thank, I appreciate it. And that was what I thought too. They were men compared to what we have today.

If memory serves didn't Boyle County beat that '99 Pikeville team in a bowl up there at the start of the season?

Yes, in the Pike County Bowl, I believe the score was something like 24-6. That was they only loss of the regular season. The 99 team finished 12-2.

That was the first 15-0 team at Boyle and started the streak towards 47 straight. No shame in that game at all. Good luck to Panthers vs. Ads. (Though I have to root for the Hometown 'ville)

That would be great to see highlights of the Harlan game, Pikeville was behind going into the second half but won the game. A very hard hitting game, Harlan flinched allowing Pikeville to win. Thank you for this videos it is exciting to watch them again.

No..your eyes are not mis-leading you.... that is Belfry running the spread.

On a side note, these highlights remind me how underrated Matt Branham and Barrett Rogers were. Those guys could play some football. Pikeville also had some absolute monsters on their DL.

The 87' championship game is the one i wanted to see. Thanks.

Its not my intention to start any trouble. But after watching the South Floyd film I have a question that, possibly, someone in the know might answer:
Why didnt the Robinson kid (#34) who graduated last year get the ball more? Every time I saw him carry the ball he would gain good yards and was very hard to bring down?????

The 1987 Pikeville team is, still to this day, the best high school football team not named Trinity, St. X, or Highlands I ever saw play.

I have heard it as well, I believe via a good luck letter on the season, but I cannot confirm or deny it until I've seen it with my own eyes. But I am working on getting his name out to colleges and UK has requested film.

Last yr., i wondered the same thing. He's a big strong, stocky kid that was a tough nosed hard runner. Couldn't figure out why he wasn't running the ball more often. He's at Pikeville College now. Wish him the best of luck.

Well naturally I thought he shouldve got the ball more. But I might be a little biased..... LOL! The truth is he was a fullback and our coach ran the spread last year which doesnt require a fullback too much. The most important thing to me is he played hard and helped his team however he could. It was drummed in both our heads by our dad that you dont play for little trophies with your name on them. You play for big trophies with the teams name on them.
