Still dumbfounds me. Congrats to Somerset

I said Somerset would turn some heads this week. Somerset is legit this season. Danville had no answer for the Slaughter kids on the D Line, I would be willing to bet they had 15-20 TFOL tonight. Somerset's defense is scary good. Add to that the turnover margin was 5-0 in favor of Somerset, and that's the result. Great job Jumpers, keep rolling!

#1 team in 3A.... this solidifies it for me.

WOW this a huge win for the Jumpers. I feel guilty for doubting them in the first place. They may very well be the hottest 3A team right now.

VERY impressive win for the Jumpers. Somerset and Central are clearly the cream of the crop.

Ive said it all year, Somerset is the 2nd best team in the Mts behind Bell Co. Most people didnt think the Jumpers would even make this a game. Congrats Somerset!

If not for some inspired play by the Danville D-line in the first half Somerset may have scored another 21 points....in the first half (it was 14-0 could have been 35-0). Danville D actually played pretty well, but Jumpers hit the plays when they needed to.

Great game defensively for the Briar Jumpers. I don't think Danville was used to getting hit as hard as they did tonight. All the turnovers except one came when an Admiral ballcarrier was lit up by a Somerset defender. The other came when the quarterback was stripped from behind on a sack. First back to back wins by Somerset over Danville since the Ron Cain era in the early 70's.

^ Danville losing at home does not happen very often. No mater what the record is of the opposing team. Not taking anything away from Smoerset, only makes it that much more impressive.

I certainly missed this pick . . . figured the Ads would roll at home.
Hard to overcome five turnovers.

Danville crowd seemed very small tonight. Vistors had about as many fans if not more than the home team tonight.

Somerset has always been one of my favorite teams to root for. Congrats Jumpers. Those playoff games in the 2000s still hurt though!

I was wondering about that as well. When did people stop coming to watch Danville play? No offense to the fans that were there but I expected a much better turn out for this game.

somerset must be good

When they beat Knox last year game 1 I gained a new respect for them. Seeing the awesome success of this program is a jewel.
Will they tangle with Bell next year for 3A title?

It sounds like Somerset will be moved back to 2A next year. With Corbin and Bell likely moving to 3A the Briar Jumpers will probably be forced back down.

Sam Harp made commits on his radio show that some folks had jumped back on the band wagon. After last nights game they might well jump back off the wagon.
If Somerset could have captialized on Danvilles fumbles it could have well been a running clock.
It seemed that Somerst had a hard time pushing the ball in when the field got short.
All in all it was a nice win for Somerset.

Danville's defense played pretty good after Somerset got two scores really quick. The problem was they were on the field way too much and just couldn't keep holding Somerset's offense back, that's when it blew wide open. Now that this week's behind us both, I hope neither of us loses another game the rest of the year!

Danville's fan base has been spoiled for quite some time. The hard core fans are always there but there are too many that are only there for a playoff run they think they will win. Sad really when you consider how high up the Danville program ranks in the entire state.
Good luck to the Jumpers the rest of the way and maybe 2010 is the year you get the Championship monkey off your back.

It also says Mason County's self hyped program is not what its publicists would have the world believe.

WOW!! Congrats to the Jumpers! I have to admit I was rooting for the Jumpers but fully expected Danville to win a very close game. I very GLAD to see Somerset win this game in dominating fashion!! Somerset is already in State Title contender form!!
