:Clap:Thats so true but you listen to some of these post it was a close match. Russell was out matched period. Give GC some respect they earned it Saturday night. They held the Devils to two feild goals I don't even think they got inside the ten yard line.

I think it's funny how we replaced are best O-lineman which is a Junior(Tackett) with a first year Junior(Nicholas) and did okay(look at yards per carry for Marsh and Llye at least 6ypc). Russell also has 15seniors this year. We'll return 6 to 8 starters back next season, return 6 to 8 with sufficent playing time on varsity. Also I'd like to mention one of the best 8th grade(20-25kids) teams in the Area(Copley has no problem starting freshmen, look at his defense when he was at Pikeville, I'm pretty sure he started at least two). It's hard to say the cupboard is bare considering the past two years Copley has gotten players out that wouldn't normally play football(Harden, Hampton, Stringfellow, etc.). I can't wait to see who he get's out next season.

You don't have enough to field a JV team. Move along.

LOL jp guys we gotta wait 2weeks for that one and who stood out other than Lyle for Greenup? howd the Marsh kid I think? do?You could'nt beat us last year and it won't happen this year, you stunk against Ashland, and your freshman team could beat Boyd Co., can't wait till you come to Lloyd in 2 weeks, after that game we will have swept the county, first the Devils and then the Rams, oh so sweet. So you don't have much to say at all.

Do me a favor oldwarrior? Ask your son how it felt to never have a winning season at Greenup throughout his varsity career? I'd ask a Raceland player but none of them would know.
Yeah I said it.
Yeah I said it.

Let the mousketeers gloat a little. It won't happen very often.
As for the cupboard. GC cancelled the JV game and are sending Sophmores along with their 6 or 7 freshman to play Russell's freshman. Also Russell had two seniors starting on defense and 4 on offense.
Russell also has a sophmore class of around 30 kids and a freshman class of 26. Which cupboard looks better?

Having the cupboard full does not always curb ones appetite. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this sophmore class took some beatings last year.

Greenup County and Russell will both beat Raceland soundly this year.

Wayne and Ashland I believe beat them badly last year. Is that what you are reffering to? I kind of figure the Kiwanis bowl is the one you really meant.

You are right to enjoy the win. It's been a long time coming. It must be pretty sweet.

Yea the freshman did beat GC but you must know the entire 8th grade played against Ashland. Really not sure about sophmores but I know on both sides of the ball there were 5 or more 8th graders every play.

How did Raceland get dragged into this thread?

We always get drug into any Greenup/Russell thread. That's why I don't even start weekly threads for Raceland. Because I know it will just end up being haters saying stuff about games later down the road.

I said earlier in this thread. Most fans are very happy with the way Russell has played thus far. And yes, things look bright for the future as well.
Greenup County has a solid team. Good but not great. Pretty average by most standards. They didn't exactly steamroll Russell now did they? 150 yards rushing from the greatest rushing offense ever? That a boy.
You better focus on this season. Not too much to look forward too down that way.

See post 35. That could be the answer.

Greenup is obsessed with the teams that have beaten them consistantly over decades. They have been horrible for so long that when they have a team that is good they have no idea how to handle it. They are pretty good. They will beat Raceland.
Raceland and Russell have tradition and know what it feels like to win on a consistant basis. When you are use to winning you kind of know how to put one win into perspective. When you are like the Mousketeers. Well, I guess we will see what they have to say when they resume their old ways. Its going to happen. History has a way of repeating itself.

Yes they called our coaches to cancel the jv game, an wanted to play the freshman game but both teams bring 6/7 sophomores? Never heard anything about 8th graders. Ashland brought 6 sophs an 24 freshman.

How about ask yourself, how does it feel never to beat the sorry, helpless Musketeers in your four years of high school.

28 to 6 is a steamrolling no matter how they did it.

Yes we have most of are 8th graders on are freshmen team(#17, #15, #4, #63, #56, #64) that's all I can think of right right that played up.

I would be happy to take a loss to the same team every year and still have a winning season.
I'll never forget walking into the locker room at the Y in 06 wearing a Russell shirt and having a Boyd Co fan start laughing at me and telling me that they beat Russell in 05. I can speak for my son who played on the 05 championship team by saying they would rather have lost to Boyd Co and won a state championship rather than beaten Boyd Co and have a losing season.

It was 14-6 in the 4th quarter with Russell driving deep in GC territoryThat could have possibly tied up the game and swung momentum. Instead Stringfellow got the interception and long return that set up Lyles TD to make it a 21-6 game. That pretty much sealed it. I wouldn't call that getting steamrolled but you can if you choose to see it that way. It's still a loss which sucks, but that's the way it goes sometime. GC played better and won the game.

We have 18 eight graders and they all played up in the freshman game. I believe only 2 sophmores played there is only 8 freshman. Copley wants all 8th graders playing freshman along with their middle school schedule. I think its a little much there is a big differance between 8th and freshman I seen that when they played Ashland just glad nobody got hurt. I don't know wh he would cancel the jv game those boys need to play thats the future of any school.
