Well this game did nothing to help anyone know exactly how good Danville will be this year. Mason barely got by Montgomery so they were clearly overrated. Then Rockcastle looks as bad as I ever remember seeing them. Rocks schedule will help them a little but this program surely seems to be heading in the wrong direction.

Mr. Black and Gold I think Danville is just fine. It's them Rebels who may be more then just a little bit over rated. Play two teams who were below and just above 500 last yr and giving up 3 or more touchdowns.

I agree that they are overrated. However this thread is about Danville/Rockcastle and therefore explains my comment on those two teams.

I would not have forcast a shut out under any circumstance? Sounds like the Rock is really down this year. Big kudos to the Danville defense on such an impressive showing.

Yep. Danville looked impressive against Rockcastle. We, as in Boyle, are underachieving badly!

Franklin Co went 1-9 last year in 4A.

Congrats to Danville...I just hope that our boys start to show up better as the season progesses and these boys get more seasoned. I knew that our defense would be awfully green early in the year...but this one was tough to swallow. That's all I can hope for....
Again, congrats to the Ads.

Congrats to Danville. They are Back just like in years past. Rock has some major Problems and need to be fixed in a hurry. Especially on offence and the secondary. They need to try to mix it up.

Danville appears to be the real deal after slapping around the Rock. Congrats Ads and GO TITLE TOWN!

Can some of you Rockcastle followers give us some insight on what's going on with Rocks Offense? One first down?

I predicted Danville, because of playing at home. No way did I expect that they would win like this. Admirals are well poised for a state title run.

Rock Defense held Danville to 21 yards rushing. I bet that is their lowest total in school history. They only had 140 some total yards. It was a fast game.

Rockcastle had 8 and 10 men in the box almost all night to shut down the run. Danville isn't a great passing team but took what Rock gave and threw for 150+ yards and 4 TDs.

I think that it will be another long year for the Rockets.

Win No. 301 didnât take nearly as long as win No. 300.
Danville had to wait some nine months to give coach Sam Harp his 300th career victory, but the Admirals gave him another just six days later, building some momentum Saturday with a 40-0 romp over Rockcastle County in the Bob Allen Pigskin Classic at Admiral Stadium.
The Admirals turned in a second straight impressive performance on defense, holding Rockcastle to 72 yards and a single first down.
âOur defense is back,â Danville linebacker Tevin Raines said. âWeâve got more speed, and weâre just flying to the ball and hitting ball-carries in the mouth.â
Danville (2-0) had held Mason Countyâs high-octane offense to 196 yards and two touchdowns in its season opener, but Rockcastle (0-1) got far less done against the Admiralsâ speedy defenders, who attacked the Rocketsâ running backs with abandon.
âIâm tickled to death with our defense. I think they were definitely the difference in the game tonight,â Harp said.
The Rockcastle offense was in Danville territory only once, which was after it recovered a fumble late in the third quarter.
Clarke Rowe, who rushed for more than 2,100 yards for the Rockets last season, was held to 61 yards on 21 carries, and his longest gainer was for 11 yards. No other Rocket ran for more than 16 yards.
âWe knew they were going to try to come in and run over us, run power-I, run straight dives. We had to match their aggressiveness,

Congrats Dville. Hard to believe this is a sign of how bad Rock is. More likely, just shows how good the Ads are this year.

trying to run the ball up the middle every time is not going to work.

I remember some Rock fans crowing about holding Boyle to 62 yards rushing in the 2001 AAA Title game and/or outscoring Boyle 14-0 in the 4th quarter.
Of course they failed to mention that was cold comfort in a 49-14 shellacking for the crown.

Rock had a tough struggle with the pass defense and passing game....Danville's defense nailed our running game in pure fahsion but with a good note that our rush defense was well accomplished. And to settle with Former's statement, with the 21 yards total on the ground allowed by our defense being the lowest in team history, I have to disagree on that because just in 10 games of the 2001 team, our defense had -42 yards on rush defense.

Disagree all you want but if you read it right, it means Danvilles lowest total in school history for a game.

I don't think Danville minds it one bit what the rushing total was. 40-0 speaks volumes. This game belonged to Danville however you want to look at it. They took what Rock gave them and took full advantage of it.
08-30-2010, 01:13 PM
Does no good to hold them to a school record lowest rushing if you give up a school record in Passing Yards Per attempt and TD per attempt. You put 9 and 10 in the box you are not going to give up much rushing yards b/c all they have to do is throw it once a drive and score!!!!
The Rockets seem to be bottle rockets now.

And that great 2001 defense was shredded by Boyle's passing attack as well when it counted most, the AAA Title Game. :eyeroll:
Useless stats when the only one that matters is the score.

To play on the famous Rick Pitino speech....."Tom Larkey ain't walking through that door" :lmao:
Seriously, either Danville is a State Championship threat or Rock is awful this year. Either way, Rockcastle got beat by 40 points. Bad news in Mt. Vernon!!!!
I wonder just how hot Scott's seat is right now....
2008- Went 8-4 with a 42 point loss to Bell County in the 2nd round
2009- Went 5-7 with a 48 point loss to Bell County in the 2nd round
2010- 0-1 with a 40 point loss to Danville.....to be continued
*I thought he coached the 2007 season but KHSAA said it was Big Tom, so I wont doubt it *
