ATHENS, Greece (AP) - The U.S. national basketball team
finalized its roster for the world championships when Celtics star
Rajon Rondo asked to withdraw from consideration.
Rondo had started the Americans first two exhibition games, then
surprisingly didn't play at all Sunday when the U.S. edged Spain.
The final 12-man roster set Tuesday includes: Kevin Durant,
Derrick Rose, Rudy Gay, Lamar Odom, Chauncey Billups, Danny
Granger, Russell Westbrook, Eric Gordon, Stephen Curry, Kevin Love,
Tyson Chandler and Andre Iguodala.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski's team has one more tuneup against Greece
on Wednesday. The world championships start Saturday in Turkey and
run through Sept. 12.http://www.wkyt.com/sports/headlines/101398314.html

Wow.. Really? Some of those guys don't even deserve to be playing.. I know players that are way better than Igudala.. and Eric Gordon? Wth?

Rondo DEF Deserved to be playing, Especially how he played in the nba playoffs.

wonder why he didnt want to play...

Sounds to me like he was one of the best players on the team. 3 best IMO. Definantly a loss for team USA.

Because the Coach did not play him. He sat the entire game against Spain, coaches decision.

Tough loss.
I would have seen him getting a lot of good PT if Billups wasn't doing so good.
When you have a veteran playing that well, especially one like Chauncey, you have to go with the vet.
I read that he left because of family issues.
Did anyone hear that?

Coach K would do fine...
I really hope Rondo didn't up and quit over PT though.
He's young still yet, he'll get his shot at FIBA and the Olympics.

Yeah but from what the other players are saying he had a bad attitude about not getting enough PT.
If I were a coach I wouldn't put up with that either...

Curry is much younger than Rondo, which leads me to beleive that Rondo probably won't be invited back.

hmmm
I'd say they would have to invite him back

Highlighted in bold are the flops IMO that could easily be replaced by Rondo or someone else.
Kevin Durant,
Derrick Rose, Rudy Gay, Lamar Odom, Chauncey Billups, Danny
Granger, Russell Westbrook, Eric Gordon, Stephen Curry, Kevin Love,
Tyson Chandler and Andre Iguodala.

Coach K was quoted saying something along the lines that in international play, you need players who can shoot and Rondo cannot.

Well, I'll give him (Coach K) that much...
I heard Rondo cut himself.. Didn't think he'd ever resort to such emo tactics.

^From my understanding Rondo called it quits too.
I was just passing along something coach K said.
