I don't think I've ever heard of Highlands giving up this many points in a scrimmage or regular season game.

Highlands is going to have to work on tackling in the secondary; alot of extra yards given up on missed tackles. Offense looked very good; I would doubt there is any QB in KY that can throw the ball better than Towles. He throws it on a rope 40+ yards and hits receivers in full stride.It was a good D that he was able to throw on too. He also has grown alot since last year.

I am not sure of Quick's number, but one of the WR made an excellent diving catch in the endzone for a TD (although it looked from where I was that he caught it on the one and slid into the endzone). Number 17 looked very good, he had size and speed(looks like their go to man when they needed a big play).

did they score on Highlands on the ground or air mostly?just wondering i know very long way to go and JC has very good run game...

Mostly on the ground, but passed the ball alot too. Trinity had some very good size and speed. Highlands overpursued alot and alot of missed tackles. I would love to know the yardage given up on missed tackles, because it had to be huge. JC better work on their pass D, because Towles is looking midseason form already.

i am Pirate fan,but was just wondering,but i would love to see JC get them this year if given the chance..

gave up 68 to Male in 2006 in a scrimmage.

I think we will see this match up. JC has had a very good running game and at this point of the year looks like teams might be able to move the ball on Highlands. But, it looks like Highlands Offense is going to light up the score board. JC will have to have better pass defense than they have showed the past 2 years.

thats true thats what killed them, they could move the ball and score, but the defense couldnt shut them down long enough..

Wow! Probably the most intense scrimmage I've ever seen. My own question was distinctly answered and that is Trinity has improved 10 fold. They're better than Highlands right now. I thought offense would be the weak link with both teams. It turned out to be the opposite. Highlands is going to score. Their defense started slow last year and really picked it up. They have their work cut out for them. If Highlands wins a state championship this year the game played tonight will have gone a long way in preparing them.

Off thread, but keep in mind that JC only scored 14 points last year against Highlands first D. It is going to need to score a lot of points on long, ball control drives to keep Highlands from outscoring them.

There were some surprises: some favorable, some not so favorable. Towles looked excellent throwing the deep ball. Gold and Sheehan looked great receiving the ball. Gall looked pretty good also.

James "Jamie" Hubbard. Also a running back who wore #25. He played on the 2004 State Championship team. (And I think he might have been the game MVP.) He's in Iraq or Afghanistan at the moment serving in the military. This clip was him carrying much of the CovCath defense into the end zone for a score.

Very true. Corey looked exceptionally well, often picking up yards where there was no hole.

HHS D didn't have an answer for Quick. I doubt anyone will this season. Patrick Towles' accuracy with the deep ball is amazing. The 81 yd TD to Gold was thrown to him in stride about 50 yards in the air. Sheehan and Gall are speedy wide outs too.

It would have been interesting to see what impact Bruns being on the field for Highlands' D would have had on Quick.

The absence of Bruns was apparent from the start. Although Quick would have still been a major factor in the game, I think Bruns' athleticism would have gone a long way in slowing down Quick down a bit. Keeping Bruns out another week was the smart thing to do IMO.
