Well it was a great start. Now the Reds have lost their lead in the central and are a half game back of the Cardinals.

Thats what happens when you have Horrid situational hitting. Score 0 runs on 8 hits whereas the previous day they score 8 runs on 5 hits. Our offense will just not stay consistent for us to get a comfortable lead in this division.... ugh.

He's playing because of his defense, which is outstanding.

Heck, stick Heisey in right, Stubbs in center, and Gomes in left. Heisey is batting .282 right now, which is better than Bruce. The Reds have lost 1-0 in 3 of their last 5 games. I realize Bruce didn't play yesterday, so he isn't the only culprit, but the Reds left 14 runners on base yesterday. How do you have that many base runners without scoring a single run? They're not getting productive at bats.

Which is key and I do agree. Though I love what Bruce does for this team defensively, when you are not producing as a team, time to start putting sticks in the line-up. Heisey is not an equal to Bruce with the glove and arm, but his bat more than makes up for it.

You could probably make the same argument for Stubbs who is batting .244 but has been hitting well as of late. But I do not think that Dusty will make a decision like that for those guys. I think that Heisey has shown so much from his hitting ability and well need that right now with a power bat like Bruce struggling mightily. I would say that we have to have production and good situational hitting from everyone but even Heisey was a victim of that yesterday failing to make contact with the ball in a key situation the 9th. The team is just wildly inconsistent in their hitting and scoring going one day with an offensive explosion and then the next failing to score a run. They have to pick it up if we are going to make it into the post season.
