For Belfry standards... deep.
They return their starting QB from last year and Morgan Bentley who plays TE for Belfry has pretty extensive backup experience at the signal caller spot. On top of that Belfry's incoming Freshman Sani Warren is expected to be one of the most skilled QB's to ever play at Belfry is he continues to improve throughout his HS career. It is very early for Warren, but if he can work hard and continue to mature physically he could potentially have a D-1 skill set before it is all said and done, his ceiling is that high a lot of people believe.

Belfry's going to be fine with the teams we play this year we will be ready when we need to be and alot of teams will be suprised with the Priates this year and for the next 5 or 6 years they will be loaded so if you can beat them this year you better do it because it might be your only chance to get it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree with ya on this one.... Experience, size, and strength will be the big factor on this one.... The freshman is going to be an excellent player but he has to learn the program, get his size and his strength... he'll get his experience... in JV games this year IMHO...

i have stated in other threads how i feel this soph o-line will be the best bhs has ever seen as a group. i believe dotson and may will be in the o-line rotation regular, the others also could see pt if they work this summer. i believe francisco and newsome and thacker will also see as much of the field as poss.in the specialty positions. also ghormley will see a lot of pt and i am probably forgetting a few.

Few things I wanted to say in this thread, too much to quote it all.
Someone said something about "the only definite loss" -- as good as some of the teams on the schedule look next year when it comes to Coach Haywood there is no such as a game Belfry is definitely going to lose.
The quarterback situation, is a good one. The ONLY way Tyler Williams isn't under center this year is injury. I'm willing to make a bold statement that Tyler's going to have a very good, almost "breakout" type year. He will get those smooth Drew Elkins style handoff's going and the boy has an arm and he's accurate.
and you're right, Morgan will not play QB again.
I also think that I agree with you all saying this is the year to get Belfry. I'm also very sure people thought that when David, Doug, and G put on cap and gowns. Anything can happen folks, and with the amount of work these boys put in I'm not expecting some awful year like it seems we're predicted to have.
There might be more, idk, I'll come ramble on more if I remember. As you can see from my past posts, I enjoy it.

There's going to be some players moving around coming July 20th, people trying out new positions and there's quite a few that I say will pay off and be big contributors. More talent than people realize on this team. I know personally there's a few kids I could see in some different positions and I wonder if Coach Haywood is thinking the same as me. Can't wait to see where everyone ends up come August 20th when the Blackcats roll into the CAM.

There has only been one Belfry player in recent memory run a legit 4.4 40 and I think we know who that was.

Believe it folks, you now have the name of the "new kid" - Jeffree Pruitt is David Jones' half brother, and HAS RAN a legit 4.48, but when the Belfry coaches timed him he ran a 4.74 or something, however he was in street clothes.

That's the only downfall of his speed, he's going to be a senior his first year at Belfry. He'll have to learn the plays quick, but I'd say David will be assisting him. If not, I suspect (this is pure speculation) he'd move to WR and stretch the field there.

Hate to break it to you but I have the list of the top 5 speedsters.... Not a freshman listed on the list I have....
I must add as well, I have been to "voluntary" passing camps/training that were held before the dead period.... I know exactly WHO your referring to as the "fastest kid at Belfry High".... so why wasn't he at the camps/training? IMHO, IF he expects to have a "starting position" on the VARSITY squad..... he needs to put every single second he can get into learning the program, working on drills, and experiencing some "experience" with the upperclassmen who have busted their butts for the last 2 or 3 years! Not to be sarcastic, but this isn't middle school anymore... Entirely different level of play....

David has worked with/ helped several different players with speed and agility. Jeffery has been there along with others who are upperclassmen as well as some younger kids who will be playing @ the middle school this year.

Based upon empirical evidence, I think, it's extremely difficult for a first year senior to contribute significantly. But, it can be done; it most certainly depends on the individual.

You're probably right, but with Coach Haywood all things are possible. If not, I do think he can make a difference either defensively at the cornerback position or offensively at the WR position.
and I believe phs1986 was referring to the incoming freshman not working hard -- I know Jeffree has been out to everything he can to be as prepared as possible for the '10 season.

0304..... I didn't mean to imply that he wasn't working hard.... My point was, fast or not, if your not out there trying to improve, every single day,..... learning the program, showing the coaches you WANT to know the plays, you WANT to contribute to the program, you won't be able to hold a light to those WHO do have the experience, talent, and time in. BY no means am I saying that the young man won't play... who's to say but Coach... Peyton is an exception to the rule... He played outstanding last year as a freshmen.... BUT, look back through the years...... You can about count on one hand how many freshmen have come in and obtained a starting position. VERY few!! Hopefully this will explain a little better what I tried to get across in my earlier post!!
