slideshow Belfry High School football Coach Phillip Haywood was selected as the Coach of the Year for Class 3A, Region IV, District 8. The Pirates had seven players chosen for the All-District Team and six as honorable mention.
Player of the Year - Avery Ray, Sheldon Clark 1st Team All District: Belfry - Jeffree Pruitt, Josh Dixon, Cameron Tackett, Micah Mahon, Trey Willis, Gary Runyon, Morgan Bentley.
Sheldon Clark - Avery Ray, Channing Smith, B.J. Jarrell, Kristian Skyles, Austin Stepp, Taylor Chapman, Corey Crum, Mikie Moore. Pike County Central - Channing Smith, Adam Daugherty, Zack Johnson, Alan Boggs, Cory Shouse, Jarrad Canada. East Ridge - Bryan Casey, Patrick Casey, Joseph Coleman, Ricky Hill, Jonathan Bryant. Honorable mention: Belfry - Keegan Fields, Garrett Francis, Josh Francis, Tyler Williams, Preston Young, Steven Gibbs.

Coach Haywood is the best coach in the mountains! No question in my opinion!

I do have to give a big congraulations to coach Haywood and all of his staff.
The turnaround this group of kids made from the begining of the season and ending up in the state final game is awesome. I sure didn't think they could of been the second best team in 3a after the Pike County Bowl but like any Haywood coached team he gets his team better every week. Congrats once again.

Coach Hayward is for sure the best coach in the mountains. He is a winner on and off the field. He is the kind of man that you would love for your son to play for. He actually cares about the kids more than trying to make himself look good. I have always heard what a good moral person he is. He is the best.
