Kevin Durant's game can get even better — and it did at World Championships
#1
Kevin Durant kept stepping back — back, back, back, back, back — and drilling 3-pointers. No rattling around the rim. No bouncing off the board. Just ball after ball going like wipers on the bus. Swish, swish, swish. That ridiculous shooting delivered not only a gold medal to the U.S. in basketball's World Championships on Sunday in Istanbul, but a warning stateside. Durant's game can get even better. It did, right before our eyes, in the worlds. Maybe in a few years, when Durant and his sidekick, Russell Westbrook, have 600, 700 NBA games on their legs, we won't get so fired up about their adventures in international basketball.
Is his excellent performance at the FIBA World Championship a goo sign that he may surpass KObe or LeBron as the NO.1 player in a few years?

this needs to be moved to the Pro Sports Section

This should be on the pro thread. But no sorry he will not pass Kobe or LeBron in the next few years. Maybe when the retire which will not be soon lol he could be but not now. The only reason he won the scoring title was because he shot his arm off. Kobe or Lebron could have it if they wanted it but you see they win games and are team players.

Westbrook will never be in the running for MVP.
Maybe a few allstar games.
but not MVP

Not even that..
Kevin Durant IMO will catch up to Kobe and Lebron, but it will be years down the road.

I knew when Durant was drafted, he would be a great player, but he really has surpassed a lot of peoples expectations in very short time. He got a really good chance to show not only the country, but the world what all he is about during the FIBA games. Broke the record for scoring by a USA player when he scored 38 points. He is a legit MVP candidate, along with the likes of Kobe, Lebron, Dwade and Carmelo. As for Westbrook, he is one of the premiere guards in the NBA, but gets overlooked because of names like D-rose, Nash, Rondo etc. I don't think he will ever be in the MVP contention, but some all star games and a lot of recognition playing along side Durant. Great future for both of them.
