Montgomery County 32, Harrison County 20
#1
Montgomery defeated Harrison in last night's Recreation Bowl 32-20. Both teams looked shaky early with special teams errors, but Montbomery finally got back on track and jumped out to a 32-6 halftime lead. Harrison rallied late around some MC turnovers, but it was too little too late.

Montgomery has some good young skilled athletes. Sophomores Lance Lockridge, Matt Tuttle, and Blake Preston made big contributions. Seth Dotson also did a lot of damage playing running back, receiver, quarterback, and safety. The Rec Bowl Star of Stars went to Montgomery Junior Daryl McCane. He had two picks on defense and was a terror on special teams.

The main concern with Montgomery is depth. Last night late in the game the lack of depth showed as all those two way players started to tire. Harrison is not very good and a good team with depth is going to exploit that weakness. The Indians face a tougher test this week as Mason County comes to town. The young Tribe will be forced to grow up quick in order to be ready for a district slate that includes Johnson Central, Ashland, and Woodford County.

Congrats to Montgomery on winning what may be the final Recreation Bowl and good luck next week.
