East runs past West

Russell graduate Travis Jones leads successful running attack

Aaron Snyder The Independent
MOREHEAD — It's the middle of June, but Travis Jones ran the football just like he was back at Russell in the middle of October.

When the East All-Stars needed a score the most, Jones came through, as East downed West 27-12 in the fifth annual Northeastern Kentucky East/West Senior Bowl Friday night at Morehead State University's Jayne Stadium. East saw a 20-0 lead dwindle to a 20-12 advantage, and West possessed the ball and had a chance to tie the game in the fourth quarter.

Lawrence county Larry West and Travis Mollett each had picks in the game.

Good game! Jones impressed tremendously. Cole Cooper had a lot of good throws and its a shame that he isnt playing at the next level. The kicker from East Carter, Langstaff, has a BOOT on him. He drilled a couple 50 yarders in pregame warmups.
