No. 1 Trinity Ends Regular Season With 23rd Straight Win
Rocks Roll Past DeSales in Regular Season Finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Leading Mr. Basketball candidate Josh Sewell scored 25 points and senior Taylor Epley added 14 points and 10 rebounds as No. 1 Trinity rolled past DeSales 61-48.

Trinity finished the regular season with a 25-2 record, winning its final 23 regular season games. The team also finished the regular season with a perfect 20-0 mark when playing away from home.

The Shamrocks used an early 12-2 run in the first quarter to take an early 16-6 lead and cruised to the win.

Sewell surpassed the 1,400 point mark for his career in the first half. Earlier this season, he became the program’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Lee Morrison at 1,317 on Feb. 2, 2010.

Trinity begins postseason action on Wed. Feb. 24, 2010 when the Shamrocks face Seneca in the first round of the 27th District Tournament at Ballard. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

• Trinity finishes the regular season with a 25-2 record.
• Trinity’s 25 wins during the regular season are the second most in program history, trailing only the 26 wins during the 2004-2005 season.
• Trinity has won 23 straight games, a school record. The Rocks have won 25 of their last 26 games overall.
• Trinity’s 23-game streak is the second longest in the Seventh Region since the start of the 2001-2002 season. Only a 26-game streak by Ballard during the 2006-2007 season is longer.
• Trinity has won 20 straight games away from home to start the 2009-2010 season. The 20-game streak is the best streak in program history. Trinity won 17 straight games away from home during the 2004-2005 season, the previous best in program history.
• Trinity finishes the regular season with a 20-0 record away from home.
• Trinity is 47-10 over the last two seasons. The 47 wins are among the best marks in any two-year period in program history. The record for a two-year span is 48 wins.
• Trinity is 15-0 in the 2010 calendar year.
• Trinity improved to 41-26 in the month of February under Mike Szabo, including a 6-0 record this year.
• Trinity finished the year with a 3-0 record against teams from the sixth region.
• Trinity has hit a three-point basket in 90 consecutive games, a streak dating to the 2006-2007 season. It is the longest streak since an 88 game streak that lasted from 2003-2006.
• Trinity is 37-2 over the last two seasons when holding opponents to 60 points or less, including a 21-2 mark in 2009-2010.
• Trinity has won 33 consecutive games when holding their opponent to 55 points or less. The last loss came on Feb. 22, 2008, a 51-40 setback at DeSales.
