Shamrocks in the National Rankings
LOUISVILLE, Ky. â No. 1 Trinityâs game with Eastern scheduled for tonight has been cancelled due to the winter storm in the Louisville area, it was announced Tuesday morning. The game will not be made up.
Six senior student-athletes were to be honored in a pre-game ceremony prior to their final home game in Steinhauser Gymnasium. The six members of Trinityâs senior class on the basketball team are leading Mr. Basketball Candidate Josh Sewell, Taylor Epley, Clayton Netherton, Dylan Kupper, Aaron Bisig and Daniel Corbett.
The Shamrocks are currently ranked number one in the state of Kentucky and have won 21 consecutive games overall. The team has not lost since Dec. 15, 2009 in the fourth game of the season. Trinity is now 23-2 on the season, posting the second most wins in program history behind the 29 wins in 2004-2005. The team is unbeaten away from home, posting a 19-0 record in such games.
The Eastern cancellation marked the third game this year that has been cancelled by weather. Trinity had games with Daviess County and Jeffersontown cancelled earlier this season while the DeSales game was moved to Friday, Feb. 19, 2010. The game at DeSales was originally planned for Jan. 8, 2010.
Trinity has had five games cancelled over the last two seasons that were not made up due to weather.
The Shamrocks have played just four games in the month of February and seven games since winning the 2010 Coca-Cola/Republic Bank Louisville Invitational Tournament on Jan. 16, 2010, all due to weather conditions in the area.

Chamblessâ 12 first half points, including nine in the second quarter, and a plethora of blocks by the Shamrocks allowed the Rocks to keep the game close at 29-21 at halftime. When the lights went out, Alex Kupper was at the line to shoot two free throws with Trinity leading 32-17 with 6:01 remaining in the third quarter. Josh Sewell led the Shamrocks with 14 points while Kupper added seven points and six rebounds. Aaron Tierney was unavailable for the finish of the game after suffering an injury in a Feb. 5, 2008 game against Waggener.
⢠Dec. 27, 2004: A leak in the Lexington Catholic roof forced Trinityâs opening round game with Montgomery County in the Fifth Third Bank Classic to be moved to the schoolâs old gymnasium. The move was a positive one for the Shamrocks who pounded the previously unbeaten team from Montgomery County, 71-39. Kyle Saxton had 17 points while Jeremy Abell added 10. Blake Nix had 21 points and seven rebounds while Kyle Saxton had 15 points and seven rebounds.
