Freak's Bowl Projections Volume 4
#1
Today I will cover....

The Indepedence Bowl
The Peach Bowl
The Meinke Car Bowl
The Liberty Bowl
The Houston Bowl

The Indepedence Bowl

South Carolina (7-4) vs. Missouri (6-5)

South Carolina (7-4, 5-3 SEC)

Best Offensive Weapon: Sidney Rice (58 catches, 952 yards, 12 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Johanthan Joseph (4 INT's)

Average PPG: 23
Average PPG Against: 21.9

Missouri (6-5, 4-4 Big XII)

Best Offensive Weapon: Brad Smith (216-362, 2022 yards, 12 TD's, 208 rushse, 1151 yards, 13 rushing TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Marcus King (2 INT's)

Average PPG: 30.1
Average PPG Against: 29

Analysis

Very evenly matched game. Both teams have the exact same PPG-PPG Against margin.

Brad Smith is going to be a better pro than Vince Young. Quote me on that.

South Carolina is lacking offense, and I think it will sting them. When it's close, take the team with the best player.....

Missouri 28
South Carolina 24

The Peach Bowl

LSU (10-2) vs. Miami (9-2)

LSU (10-2, 7-2 SEC)

Best Offensive Weapon: JaMarcus Russell (188-311, 2443 yards, 15 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Laron Laundry (3 INT's)

Average PPG: 28.5
Average PPG Against: 15.1

Miami (9-2, 6-2 ACC)

Best Offensive Weapon: Kyle Wright (170-286, 2303 yards, 18 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Kelly Jennings (3 INT's)

Average PPG: 29.2
Average PPG Against: 11.9

Analysis

This is by far the best non-Jan. 1st bowl. Amazing matchup.

The first team to 14 points will win. Both defenses are fantastic.
Miami's D gave up over 17 points only once all year (30 to Clemson in 3 OT's.)
LSU's D gave up 10 or under 5 times.

Miami won this game last year, and LSU has already lost in the building this year....

Miami 17
LSU 10

The Meinke Car Care Bowl

South Florida (6-5) vs. N.C. State (6-5)

South Florida (6-5, 4-3 Big East)

Best Offensive Weapon: Andre Hall (251 rushes, 1256 yards, 13 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Johnnie Jones (2 INT's)

Average PPG: 25
Average PPG Against: 17.1

N.C. State (6-5, 3-5 ACC)

Best Offensive Weapon: Andre Brown (117 rushes, 616 yards, 5 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Garland Heath (4 INT's)

Average PPG: 21.3
Average PPG Against: 19.2

Analysis

N.C. State is a joke offensively. I dont see how they averaged 3 TD's a game in all seriousness, they have major issues.

South Florida was a nice story, but their record showed their overall team talent at the end of the year. A decent team with a major star in Andre Hall.

When in doubt, always take the team with the best player.....

South Florida 20
N.C. State 14

The Liberty Bowl

Fresno St. (8-4) vs. Tulsa (8-4)

Fresno St. (8-4, 6-2 WAC)

Best Offensive Option: Paul Pinegar (246-386, 3122 yards, 29 TD's)

Best Defensive Option: Richard Marshall (3 INT's)

Average PPG: 38.9
Average PPG Against: 21.8

Tulsa (8-4, 6-2 C-USA)

Best Offensive Option: Garrett Mills (83 catches, 1183 yards, 9 TD's)

Best Defensive Option: Nick Graham (6 INT's)

Average PPG: 33.3
Average PPG Against: 23.4

Analysis

This will be a complete shootout. Both teams can score, and both will score. I expect this game to be in the high 30's-40's.

Fresno has lost 3 in a row, but I think Pat Hill will get things straight.

Tulsa has quietly put together a quality year, after several down years. I picked UTEP at the beginning of the year to win the conference, but Tulsa proved to be the best team.

I gotta take Fresno, but this could go either way.

Fresno St. 42
Tulsa 39

The Houston Bowl

Iowa St. (7-4) vs. TCU (10-1)

Iowa St. (7-4, 4-4 Big XII)

Best Offensive Option: Bret Meyer (207-335, 2622 yards, 16 TD's)

Best Defensive Option: DeAndre Jackson (5 INT's)

Average PPG: 28.6
Average PPG Against: 18.4

TCU (10-1, 8-0 Mountain West)

Best Offensive Option: Robert Merilll (176 rushes, 802 yards, 9 TD's)

Best Defensive Option: Quincy Butler (5 INT's)

Average PPG: 33.7
Average PPG Against: 18.1

Analysis

This is one of the underrated matchups of the bowl season. I think this game will be very close and competitive.

Iowa St.'s Bret Meyer is a load of fun to watch, and big WR's Todd Blythe is his favorite target.

TCU is 10-1, and they dominated the Mountain West this year. They played in the best game no one heard about, a 51-50 shootout win against BYU on September 24.

TCU is 10-1 for a reason, but they think they are prime for an upset. I really like this ISU team, and I think they pull a minor shocker.

Iowa St. 28
TCU 27
