OC wraps up a chance at the Pizza Box against the Red Devils. Congrats to the Aces.

The East has brought back 6 of the last 7 state titles.... Russell needs to be ready for some excellent skill players spread all across the field... OC will be quick and agressive but severely undersized. The key to beating OC is simple.... pop them in the mouth. Russell will be the most physical team the Ace's have played all year...

The bad news for Russell is their secondary is vulnerable and OC has a very prolific passing game... the good enws is that the OC receivers and backs are tiny, they won't be playing an Aaron Chapman that is 6'3 220, instead it will be Neil Holland who will be 5'8 165 or so. Offensivley you just gotta pound it at the Ace's who will have a much improved defense. The Devil's can't use the pass as much as they did on Belfry, but they have got to set it up and execute to be successful.

I am getting a little sick and tired of everyone saying that Catholic has not faced a physical team.....Russell is not as physical as Fort Campbell, Trigg, or DeSales. I just looked at the Russell team roster and they arent all that big. Catholic has beat the number 1 team in 2A, the number 3 team and 6 team, all of which were more physical and a lot more bigger than Russell. Good Luck to Russell....your gonna need it.

I forgot that someone can look at a roster and know how physical a team is. That is an extremely laughable point. You could have atleast lied and said you'd seen them on film lol. To say you looked at a roster and know they're not as physical as one team or another just shows the lack of football knowledge you possess. More than on any other level size does not matter in high school football. Heart, determination, and mental approach means much more.

By the BGR polls, Russell has beaten the #3, #7, and #9 teams in AA and the #8 team in AAA. Point said, maybe OC's wins have been against slightly (at best) competition, but neither team has lost, and that is all that matters.

The same thing OC said last year before they played Belfry....they thought that Corbin was physical then Belfry smacked them all over the field. This Russell team is almost as physical as Belfry last year. Fort Campbell and Trigg County ARE NOT PHYSICAL TEAMS....they are designed for big plays utilizing their speed,, not to grind you out like Russell.

Physicality has nothing to do with size....it depends on the ssytem and Russell is a physical system. Just remember there is a reason the East has won 6 of the last 7 state tites in 2A.

Congrats Owensboro Catholic!

Tomcat68- why lie when i have the knowledge.....i looked at the roster and I KNOW their not a physical team, they are inexperienced, and highly under coached...these BOYS have no heart and determination...look at Catholics schedule, beat one of the best teams in IN, beat 2 3A schools, should have beat 3, Fort Campbell would have beat the 3A team that this Russell school beat. OC will win and win big. Ive played for and coached with the best high school coach EVER in KY (MOJO Hollowell-Second Winningest in KY, should be first.) I think I know the game and how its played. So, when we beat this Russell team, please dont use the excuse that you all would have beat us if this player that you all have that is injured would have played. If your going to the state game this saturday, be ready, the OC fans will rock the house along with the team.

OC said nothing last year about Belfry and their physicality, trigg and FC are two huge physical teams...trigg has no speed, they had a running back that was big and slow and used their physicality to win...FC is big, therefore their physical and their offense is designed to not only out run you, but to over power you as well.

The east HAS been successful, but times are changing, you might as well change with them..

Ok let's break down this quote.

1. "i looked at the roster and I KNOW their not a physical team"

Once again, you have NO knowledge if you think you can look at a roster and know how physical a team is.

2a. "they are inexperienced"

This team is not inexperienced. They have made it to the state semis 3 or the last 4 seasons. They also return 7 starters each way from last year's team.

2b. Let's compare each team's experience since these seniors have been playing high school football.

Russell

2002 - 3 playoff wins. Lost state semi to Breathitt County 28-27 in overtime. Breathitt blew out Corbin 51-0 for the Championship. 2nd best team in the state that year.

2003 - Only wins 2 playoff games. Falls to Lloyd Memorial 30-12.

2004 - 3 playoff wins. Losing to eventual state champ Belfry 39-17. Game was a little closer than the score, but Russell was still beat handily. Belfry beats OC for the title 28-21.

2005 - 4 playoff wins and counting. Beat the 2 time defending state champs 20-14.

Owensboro Catholic

2002 - Only 2 playoff wins. Lost to Webster County 21-16 who lost to Corbin 28-21 who lost to Breathitt 51-0 who barely beat Russell 28-27 in OT the week before. Big Edge to Russell.

2003 - 3 playoff wins. Lost to Elilzabethtown 20-28. Edge to OC.

2004 - 4 playoff wins. Lost to Belfry in title game 28-21 after Russell lost to Belfry 39-17. Edge to OC.

2005 - 4 playoff wins and counting. Impressive win over #1 AA team Fort Campbell who was never as good as advertised. Fort Campbell played 2 legitimate teams this year. Beat Trigg County 14-7 and lost to OC 28-25.

Conclusion: OC leads 13-12 in playoff wins, but Russell played the better competition losing to 2 state champions while the East has won the past 3 state championships and OC has lost to only 1 state champion.

To say either of these teams are inexperienced shows has little knowledge you have.

3. "highly under coached" and "Ive played for and coached with the best high school coach EVER in KY (MOJO Hollowell-Second Winningest in KY, should be first.) "

Coach McGlone has 241 career victories and counting while compiling a 241-113 record. He is currently 15th and rising in all-time wins in KY. Mojo Hollowell is actually the 3rd winningest coach in KY history. He was passed by Bob Schneider of NCC last season. Get your "facts" straight. He will also be passed by Dudley Hilton (Bell County), Phillip Haywood (Belfry), and Bob Redman (Male) next season, 2 seasons max. That will drop him to 7th.

For some extra spice let's look at the winning percentage of each coach.

Coach McGlone of Russell - 241-113 for 68.08%
Coach Hollowell formerly of OC - 289-166-2 for 63.24%
I don't have the career numbers for Coach Edge.

Looks like Coach McGlone isn't so much as terrible as you would think. Shows once again how little knowledge you have.

4. "these BOYS"

Yes everyone on the field on Saturday for Russell will be BOYS and YOUNG MEN ages 14-20. I'm sure the same goes for OC, if not they are under some severe consequences of penalties for illegal participation.

5. "these BOYS have no heart and determination"

Of course Russell has no heart or determination. They're going to flop over and let you have it this week. Be realistic, no team makes it to the state finals without any heart and determination. Ask Ashland who was stuffed on the final play of the game at the goal line to seal the win for Russell. Ask the former 10-1 Mercer County team that Russell sent packing in the 2nd round. Ask the formerly 11-1 Newport team that Russell beat in OT on their home turf in the 3rd round for the regional championship. Ask the 2 time defending state champion Belfry Pirates who lost to Russell last week in the state semifinal game.

All of these teams, and everyone else on their schedule will tell you that this team has pleny of heart and determination.

6a. "look at Catholics schedule, beat one of the best teams in IN,"

One of the best teams in Indiana? South Spencer who finished 8-4 and was eliminated from the playoffs 3 weeks away convincingly 28-7 to North Posey who was then beat convincingly this past week by Jimtown 35-7??? Sounds like a top team in the state to me hahaha

6b. "beat 2 3A schools, should have beat 3,"

Well first off, you didn't even play 3 3A teams this season. You played 3 4A schools. You beat a 3-7 Daviess County who didn't make the playoffs and a respectable at best Apollo team that finished 6-6, but lost to another just respectable 6-5 Owensboro team but I'll give you a bye on that one because it's understandable to lose to the big brother in town Wink You sure seem to know an awful lot to me.

6c. "Fort Campbell would have beat the 3A team that this Russell school beat"

Any proof to back that up? I think not.

7. "I think I know the game and how its played."

After reading how I just broke down your last post, I think most people will agree with me when saying that you've shown that you have little to no knowledge outside of what you know about your own team. You know nothing about the rest of the state.

Dang Dude Get A Life, Get A Girl, It's HS Football, thats it, if its a way of life, then you have some major problems, yeah i messed up alot in my reply, but see its because i have a life, i have a girlfriend, and i dont look around the net for hours and hours about information to put on a website just to prove someone (who you never met) is wrong. you obviously have no life and are well up to date on your HS football. Im getting my point across, no matter how many mistakes i have made, OC will win and win big. If MOJO was STILL coaching, these coaches that you named would still be behind him and he would still be second, maybe first. To recap, Im for OC your for Russell, you think Russell will win, i think OC will win, you spend hours upon hours on the internet looking up infomation to prove someone else wrong that you have never met. Your up to date on HS football, i could care less about any other hs other than OC. I dont spend hrs upon hrs on the net looking to prove someone else wrong, therefore i make errors, some of which are stupid, but hey I have a life. Good Luck on Saturday!!!!!

It doesn't take hours to get the information I used. It took about 15 minutes of looking up the schedules and scores on http://www.maxpreps.com and the coaching list at http://www.khsaa.org . Maybe you should use these sites to make sure that you know what you're talking about before you post false information. You're entitled to your opinion that OC will win on Saturday. I'm not even a Russell fan. I hate them honestly. I'm an Ashland fan, we're bitter rivals. But before you try to post things and pass them off you may want to make sure they're true.
#16
just some info, coach mcglone NOW has 251 wins Smile.. there was a mistake there with the stats
#17
I thought it was 251 as well RD but for some reason the KHSAA site had him with only 228 coming into the season instead of 238. Here is the link. http://www.khsaa.org/records/football/fo...aching.pdf I wonder if it's just a typo or if they have the wrong information, either way, someone needs to have it reported and fixed.
