Checking in: Male

From Jody Demling's blog:

Veteran Male coach Tom Crews believes his team is flying a bit under the radar heading into the season that is fine with him because "I have a lot of guys back," he said.

The Bulldogs can go nine players deep and have perhaps the most experienced backcourt in the state in seniors D'Carlo Hayes and Kevin Glenn. Both have been playing for several years and are starting their third season.

Besides those two, Tony Horne also averaged double figures last season.

Crews also gets back one of the state's best shooters in James Pillaschafske, who missed nearly all of last season with an injury.

Crews has several role players and a couple of talented youngsters that will also see the floor and contribute to the Bulldogs success.

The schedule is tough.

After opening at Moore on Dec. 4, the Bulldogs will play Scott High in the Battle of the Bluegrass in Frankfort on Dec. 5. They'll travel to Clark County on Dec. 12 and host Elizabethtown on Dec. 15.

Male will play in the Defenders of the Station Classic at Bryan Station Dec. 18-22 and the Lexington Catholic Invitational Dec. 27-30.

The Bulldogs host Eastern on Jan. 5, will play Scott County Jan. 9 at Lexington Christian, compete in the LIT Jan. 11-16, play at Bowling Green in the State Farm Shootout Jan. 30, host Ballard Feb. 5 and play at Trinity Feb. 12.
