Okay, so I'm having this issue I'd like to discuss
#1
...and I guess this would only count for those who have seen me dance; I'd like to hear your guys opinions. I recently auditioned for my high school's talent show. I'd been in it the year before, which I sang in it. Well, I figured I'd do what I do best and dance. I didn't know about it that day of the audition, so I danced to our hip hop from this year. Well, they announced the contestants, and I didn't make it. Not trying to sound conceited, but I know I dance good, one of the best. I just can't grasp why someone of my talent didn't make it. I've competed in numerous individual competitions in dance and won all of them. It's also my senior year, and I was the only senior who was going to compete. I figured I would give the seniors someone to yell for, and I wanted to represent my class. And every year it's always singers, so I figured I would change it up and do something new and exciting for everyone; looks like it didn't work out in my favor, LOL. But I can't help to think that I've been discriminated against, or it was set up. But that's just me, and I had to get that off my chest. It makes me feel like also I danced all these years for nothing, that I'm not good enough (which I know I am). But I can always depend on my BGR friends for some advice.

Hey man. Keep it up. Dont let one one school contest get ya down. Maybe you threw them off guard when you were doing an odd talent by dancing, or sumthin like that.
I know of several members on here that have told me how much they enjoyed seeing you perform.
As long as you got the passion for it, one MINOR setback isn't gonna keep ya from doin what ya love.
Good luck.

I've seen you dance only a handful of times and I really enjoyed watching you. You shouldn't let this get under your skin, this is something that you should only use as motivation.

Best of luck!

This happens to all performers at some point. Don't let it bother you, judges don't get it right all the time.

A video of you dancing or it never happened. Big Grin

Thank you guys for the support! I just had to vent that out, lol. It's just upsetting because the people that judged me had saw me dance all my dancing career. And it's my senior year--it's just a big kick in the back it feels like. But it's all okay now, because I know I'm better than that talent show anyways.

In my experiences, talent shows are mostly singing anyways. They should probably just be renamed "Singing Competitions," because other acts are typically kept out of them and rarely do they win. In every talent show when I was in high school, it was always a band or singer that won.

In most talent shows I've participated in, I've seen dancers, actors, and other types of acts (that aren't singing or band) get shafted because they are a different type of talent. I think part of it is that the judges don't know how to judge those kind of acts as well. I think another part of it is that (I know it's unfair) the judges tend to put more value on musical talent, than other talents.

We had a girl in high school that did a monologue from a play and she killed it. It was awesome and worthy of placing in the competition, but she didn't even come in the top 5.

You're much too good for a silly high school talent show. They just knew you'd show everyone up!

Exactly. They know your talent and they just want to give someone else the chance to win.

 Don't let it get to you. You know you are talented and thats what matters

Man dont let this get in the way of doing what you love. Micheal Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team but he chased his dream and he ended up being arguably the best ball player of all time. Its all how you take this, motivate your self to reach the peak (which you can) and excell while you make sure its not getting in the way of the love for what your doing.

I'll have to say I was pretty impressed by you at the 15th Region last year, I can remember the song Temperature with the heart beat move. Very good

Thanks for all the support and compliments guys!

Well, today was the talent show, and I must say, it could have been alot better if I was in it. And yeah. seems conceited, but it's true. But I was thrilled with the winner; she was great! The onlyyy thing that ticked me off was that TWO girls quit the show before it started. I mean, if you make it, commit. That could have been my spot. That ticked me off a bit, but I was satisfied with the show. Once again, thanks!
