Kentucky Derby also-ran Desert Party will have surgery for a bone chip in his left front ankle and is sidelined indefinitely.

He is scheduled to undergo surgery to have a displaced chip removed from his left ankle. His owners hope he will be back in action before the end of the year, they plan to race him as a 4 year old as well.
