The title gives the Lady Crusaders only their third district title in school history, and their first 34th District championship.

"Abby played phenomenal tonight," said St. Henry head coach Brian Coburn. "This is very special for the girls. I knew at the beginning of the season if we stuck to which we preached - which was strictly defense and taking easy shots - we would be sitting in a nice spot during tournament time."

Down significantly late in the second quarter and getting abused by Ludlow post players, Coburn decided to try something different by using a rarely used 2-3 zone defense.

"Ludlow's post players were making everything so we had to try something different," said Coburn. "It seemed like it frustrated their post players so we decided to come out at halftime using that specific defense after basically using man-to-man the entire season".

Down 28-17 at halftime, the Lady Crusaders came out and went on a 12-0 run to start the second half, putting St. Henry up 29-28.

"At half I told the girls don't look at the clock or scoreboard and if we did that I promised we would put ourselves in position to get back in the game," said Coburn. "That's when I could really see the confidence on our players' faces. It was just a great confidence builder for us".

Down by one point with 49 seconds left in the game, senior forward Jaime Lampone hit an eight foot jumper to put Ludlow up. After a few missed shots and some missed free-throws by St. Henry in that time frame, Ludlow had a chance to win the game but senior center Maya Pillai made the key play of the game by stealing the ball with six seconds left icing the 34th District title for St. Henry.

"The clock seemed to take forever," said Coburn. "Anybody could have won tonight. Hopefully we could use this as a spring board for the rest of the tournament".
