Who's this regions top teams & players?
11-19-2008, 02:24 AM
Elliott has to be the top team.

Elliott is in the same boat as Shelby Valley is in the 15th, there shouldn't be anyone coming within 20pts of them in the 16th.
They Have 1 player singed with a DI school, Evan Falkner-Radford, a player signed with a DII school who chould have played DI somewhere, Ethan Falkner-Northern Kentucky. Not to mention their best player Fergason hasn't even signed yet. Knipp is probabily a legit DI prospect as well and is the best player in his class according to some. There just stacked.

Top teams, Elliott Co. and East Carter. (pretty big drop to 3rd.)
Top players
Ethan Faulkner, EC
Jonathon Ferguson, EC
Colt Barnhill, East
Evan Faulkner, EC
Tyler Boyles, Raceland
Tyler Jackson, East
Timmy Knipp, EC
Zak Metz, Bath Co.
I know I have forgotten lots of kids..... Team wise, East Carter is much better than most are giving them credit for, couple that with Elliott's 7 game win streak against them and the 4 that are liable to come this year??????? The Barnhill kid from East is an athelete, plain and simple at 6' 7" he can do it all, add that with Devin Kawada at 6' 6', and Mark Pemberton at 6' 5"....Needless to say they are WAY BIGGER than Elliott. This matchup depends solely on Timmy Knipp and how much energy and effort he plans on bringing this year!

How will Ashland be?

Its obviously Elliot's region to win, but East Carter could pose a threat if the big men i've been hearing about can move from sideline to sideline. Knipp is a quick...Lamar Odom, type of player, not saying he's as good as Odom was, but he's that style. Who would you all say is the 3rd team in the Region? Bath County won 20 games last year, Raceland won 19. I don't know about anyone else, but I know Raceland lost a heavy senior class last year with Peyton Martin, Jacob Sparks, K.C. Nichols, Dillon Keeton and Logan Watts all graduating, they've got a very experienced and tallented kid in Tyler Boyles that will continue to produce I'm sure, and the rumor is that Logan and Johanssen are both coming out after football season as well...that could prove big on the defensive side of the court. But, thats just talk till the season comes around. Good luck to all the Ashland area teams.

Ashland has a good coach in Biggs....... Unfortunately though, I think this will be a long season in Tomcat Land...

My personal opinion is...........Bath or Raceland... I don't think either team could possibly beat Elliott, but East lacks a really good PG and shooters....I don't know how big, or more important physical Raceland is, but if you turn up the heat big time on East's guards.......who knows??? Thats how EC has beaten them dispite the size disadavantage.

Elliott and East Carter.

I agree, it has to be eliott

Elliott should win this region and from the looks of things, my Morgan Co. team looks like they will have a pretty rough season ahead of them.

Elliot should win the region without a loss on there record...just a fight for 2nd in the region
11-25-2008, 05:03 PM
well who will be in the fight for second since Elliott pretty much has the region?

Most likely East Carter.

After watching Elliott County last night I'm not sure if anyone in the region will come within 30 points of them. Ferguson and Knipp both look much stronger and the Faulkner twins bring athleticism, toughness and every intangible you can think of to the court.
Elliott County IMO has a legit shot at a state title.

Raceland should be relatively athletic. Tyler Boyles is a great basketball player as well as a football player. He's got a level head and he's a really good defender, he's gotten quite a bit stronger since last year and he has grown a bit as well. Cody Barker is a Jr this year and had a great freshman and sophomore year and he to is a good defender. Looking at Raceland's size, its hard to say. There are a few rumors rolling around in Ramland that Thomas Watson wont be coming out, he's around 6-5 or 6-6. Boyles is around 6-3 or 4, there's also a rumor that Sabastian Johanssen and Roby Logan will also be coming out. I don't know if either of them have much experience on the court, but if true, it would be hard to find anyone who could out rebound or get inside on them. Guess we'll have to wait until practices start. Most of Racelands bball team are still playing football...so we got atleast this week, hopefully 3 more to find out any answers.

By watching Elliot county this week, I believe that they have the top spot in the 16th. But I do believe that they are beatable.
