Allen Central 7 - Prestonsburg 2 (58th District Championship)
#1
Allen Central defeats Prestonsburg for the second season in a row for the district championship. Logan Crowder pitched for Central and Rodebaugh pitched for Prestonsburg. It was going to be tough for Prestonsburg to really win this game anyhow because of the fact that Rodebaugh hasn't pitched in nearly 3 weeks, thats hard on any pitcher especially when you were put in his situation, another thing that played a big roll was that Rodebaugh has faced Central each and everytime they've played one another this season. Sorry if it sounds like I'm making excuses for Prestonsburg because I'm not trying too but congrats to the Rebels!

Your right though, sooner or later your going to get use to the pitcher you see the most. It is not good to use the same pitcher every game.

who made all-conference and all-tournement

I think it's all-district isn't it, or do they have another league that involves all the district teams? I know some teams play in seperate conferences with different teams, do these teams do that as well?

i wish schs was in this district lol

Haha they do need to do something like that. The 57th is just too big, especially if you have the best 3 to 4 teams in the region every year, and only two make it. It's a little crazy how the 15th is set up.
#7
yes thats the truth like in 2006 they had the 3 best teams in the region nd the district champ. game is almost always a rematch game

But gas prices going up to 16 bucks a gallon its hard to force a team from Martin County to travel all the way to Floyd County for a District baseball game or vice versa.

ACHS, PHS, BLHS and SFHS are all in the Floyd County Conference. The teams play each other twice every season. The outcome of these games is used to determine seeding for the 58th District Tourney, an all conference team is named and a Conference player of the year is named. These are from the Conference games during regular season.

They also name a 58th district all tournmanet team and a 58th district tournament MVP.

Josh Rodebaugh was named "Player of the Year" and Logan Crowder was "Tournament MVP".

Ok I see now, thanks. Congrats to everybody on their awards!!

Does anybody know what other players got on all conference and all tournament teams?

Josh Rodebaugh, Tyler Hall, Chris Schoolcraft, Mason Haywood, and Seth Setser all got all district team last night for Prestonsburg.

I don't understand why Bobby Hughes didn't get on that team with the way he had played this season in district.

Actually, blackcat_student, it was the third consecutive year Allen Central beat Prestonsburg for the District Crown, and AC's 4th straight overall. I really thought Prestonsburg was going to win last night, but it's hard to beat a team 3 times in a season, no matter who you are. I really think Allen Central got the momentum for good when Chris Stumbo had that 3-run double in I think the 3rd or 4th inning. After that, it was like Allen Central had all they needed. Logan pitched a GREAT game. P'Burg made some solid contact but the Rebels played some nice defense behind Crowder. Congrats to AC for winning yet another district title, and good luck to them in the upcoming regional tournament. Also congrats to Prestonsburg on a great season, and I look for them to give somebody one heck of a fight in the first round next week.

rodebaugh is the most over rated player in the 15th....he beats up on the bad teams in the region and when he faces good pitching he crumbles....rodebaugh has never picked up a victory against ac as a pitcher and has never hit well against them either....he went 0-4 with 3 strikeouts against AC in the district tournament....AC has played bad most of the year due to a lack of practice for the most part....but i think the team with the superior talent won the game...congrats AC....7 in 8 years isn't too bad!

The Rebel team has been faced with many challenges this season. 1. No AC player ever stepped up to lead this team. 2. Injuries/ illness were an issue from the first game. Little was on the sideline (defensively) for the majority of the season. Crowder returned to the line-up 2 weeks after majory surgery but only returned to the mound a few weeks ago-his game against Pburg on Wednesday was his best pitching performance this season. Prater (with a broken hand) didn't play at all this season. These 3 were AC's most experienced pitchers. AC dealt with pneumonia, seizures and other illnesses as well. 3. Sharing a field with another team, lots of rain in the early season and not taking advantage of field time when it was available was also a problem.

Next season will see the Rebels return 7 of 9 defensive starters. Nelson and Stumbo haved gained valuable pitching experience this season. L. Crowder will have the accident/surgery one year behind him and should be back on top of his pitching game. H. Crowder, Jackson, Hall and Stone are all experienced starters as well and experience/game time means alot.

Good Luck in the Regional Tourney and Rebel Fans look forward (hopefully) to an injury/illness free 2009 season.

Is he going to school anywhere?

Last I heard, he is planning on attending Big Sandy Comm. & Technical College in Prestonsburg. To my knowledge, no one has contacted him about playing athletics in college. I feel he could play somewhere small in either football, basketball, or baseball. He, like his two older brothers (Dustin and Ryan) is/was a great three sport athlete at Allen Central.
