THE ICE STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EST /8 AM CST/ FRIDAY.

SLEET AND SNOW STORM COULD QUICKLY LEAD TO POWER OUTAGES AND FALLING TREE BRANCHES. REMEMBER...DO NOT APPROACH DOWNED POWER LINES. The areas not included above are, to the south and east are in a freezing rain warning or advisory. Weather and travel could get very bad tonight.

It looks really bad on the radar right now. I think we're suppose to get around an inch of snow then ice on top of that up here in northern, KY.

They're saying there's been a lot of wrecks in Western KY, where it has been coming through first.

Not good for the rest of us.

Johnson County is letting out early as well.
#7
They shouldnt even had school today if there just going to let the kids out later.
#8
My guess is they are trying to get in as many days as possible, some schools will be going through May and maybe into June.

EKU and Model both let out at noon. Bad periods of heavy sleet, then light sleet, then back to heavy sleet. Alternating like that througout the last 2 hours. The parking lot seemed fine when I walked on it about 30 minutes ago, however my car is now covered in ice.

Salt trucks driving by every 5 minutes or so.

All of the cars, sidewalks, and everything metal here has frozen. The parking lot is a little slippery but the roads seem fine.

The freezing rain has stopped for the most part but another line is not far behind it.

UK just cancelled all classes after 2 PM

I love the snow! But ice.... that's just dangerous!! 4x4 or not ice is hard/impossible to drive on!!!
#13
I work at a Federal Office and they closed early and sent everyone home

Well from everyone I've talked to Lexington's roads around UK are pretty bad, but get better on Man o War and New Circle. I-75 seems to be fine and the roads in Richmond seem to be fine. I've yet to drive on any secondary roads since the storm started but some here in Richmond say they've worsened, others say they're getting better.

There's a second round of storms coming through tonight, no one seems to be sure if it will hit Richmond or be just north of us. Temps are still about 29 degrees here.
